T31 Window Washer Motor.

Hi all,
Looks like my windscreen washer motor may be faulty. No Front or Rear water at all and the washer water container is full. I can't hear any "motor" noise when I flick the switches etc. I was going to remove it today to check it out but with this rain I will wait until finer weather.
In the meantime however, if I do need to replace it has any one done so and used the non OEM motors you can purchase online from as low as $8 up to $30 and more, and they all look the same in the pics associated with the Ad for a T31 xtrail.

Cheers
Dave

I assume Dave you have checked the fuse for the washer pump ?
It is the 10A Fuse #4 in the fuse block.

Re: T31 Window Washer Motor.

Hi Kev.

Silly me. I was thinking last night to check the fuse but plumb forgot as I posted my query. So, I will check it and if a blown fuse is the culprit then I will retract my post. Glad I didn't start removing all the wheel arch trim due to rainy weather. So will check the fuse this afternoon.

cheers and tks for response.

EDIT to above. Fuse tested OK. I even replaced it with a new one and still no go, When I eventually access the motor I will also test it to make sure it's not something else such as dirty contacts or whatever.

So I may have to purchase new washer motor after further check/tests etc so was just wondering if others have had success with purchasing non OEM motors etc.

Cheers again.

Re: T31 Window Washer Motor.

All fixed and working fine. The issue was a very dirty electrical connection between the washer pump motor and the 12V supply.
This morning I removed the front drivers side wheel and part of the wheel arch shroud which enabled me to reach in and pull out the washer motor from the water reservoir. I unplugged the 12V supply plug and it tested 12V with a multimeter when I activated the washer switch.
The plug was very dirty with built up dirt and grease.
The socket was also fairly dirty so I used WD40 and cleaned up both plug and socket and then connected them.
Voila, all good. The motor whirred and both front and rear washer nozzles again sprouted water as normal.
So a sucessful fix at no cost.

Cheers all.
