Power sockets turn off delay

Hi does anybody know how to adjust the time it takes to turn off power to the power socket (cigarette lighter). I have gps and dashcam plugged into it and it seems to take over a minute after the ignition is turn off and car locked. It has intelligent key/push button start.

If your user manual doesn't explain it Steve, maybe you might have to time it emoticon

Re: Power sockets turn off delay

Most dashcams and GPS units have a battery fitted internally, so it won't be the car supplying power for the minute after you switch off, but the unit itself.
Manufacturers do this to enable electronic units to stay powered in the case of a power supply glitch, and in the case of daschcams, to continue to record for the minute after you depart the car.

To prove this, after they're powered up and running, simply remove the dashcam and/or GPS from the lighter socket, and see how long each takes to power down.

Thaks for the reply guys. Kev the manual is like reading war and peace. I am working my way through it slowly. Bp yes, they do have batteries in them but there is power in the sockets themselves for about a minute after the car is locked, not a big deal I would just prefer it to be shorter.

Re: Power sockets turn off delay

Just been out to the garage and tested on my 2013 ST.
Don't know if Nissan altered the wiring setup between 2013 and 2020, but here are my test results -

Key to IGN, and the dashcam starts recording after initial setup of around 4 seconds.
Key to OFF and the dashcam shuts down after 30 seconds.

Removed the dashcam's cigarette lighter plug and;
Using a multimeter on the cigarette lighter socket, we have 12V immediately on turning key to IGN.
Key to OFF and the multimeter shows me 12V going off instantly.

So as you can see in my case, the dashcam's internal battery is supplying power for the 30 seconds shut down period.
