posticon Cruise Control Gear Change

Hi Everyone

Have an older Exy T30 2004. Done 230,000 K's. A new problem has arisen recently. I live in the Top End and regularly drive between Katherine & Darwin. The vehicle has spent most of its life in the heat and the tropics. Recently replaced all the cooling system bits including a larger Aluminum radiator. That has solved other problems.

On the drive to Darwin in the cooler mornings, no problems with the Cruise Control and gear changing. All works as expected. But on the return trip in the heat of the afternoon things start going weird. It drops back a gear for no real reason and stays there and if you are lucky in a downhill run it may go back up again. In the middle of one of these stuck episodes if I turn off Cruise Control operations go back to almost normal. Maybe a little bit more sensitive than normal but basically OK. Put Cruise Control back on and problem is there. Next day when cool all back to normal.

The only thing I have spotted in the forum is the MAF sensor may need cleaning/replacing. Can anyone suggest anything else to look for?

Much Appreciated
Mike

Re: Cruise Control Gear Change

The Cruise lamp stays on, just gets stuck in the lower gear. I have previously experienced on a very steep hill where Cruise turns off and the the lamp blinks, but since upgrading all the cooling system that has not happened.

When you replaced the radiator I assume you also had connections for the auto transmission cooling hoses at the bottom ?

Sorry for delay in reply, I have been away. I honestly don't know, it was done by a local mechanic, I will investigate. Mike
