BOSCH GPS Unit 2012 XTrail T31

There has been an incredible amount of discussion about the Availability and Cost of obtaining Updated SD Cards.

There are some very Tech Savvy blokes in the Computer Industry.

Has anyone given thought to finding anyone with skills of Reverse Engineering the SD Card and making it suitable to more Common Map Updates.

SURELY, there Must be People out there with the Skills and Knowledge to perfect this, at very Low Cost - There would be a Very Large Market for Updated SD Cards, to Suit the Models concerned.
Thank You for listening.
Owen Carlton.

Owen,

While I understand your frustration in the cost of updated maps for your unit, I am sure there is some kind of OEM copyright on copying and distributing the files and they usually also have internal codes which tie them to the specific unit's serial number so a map file for one unit may not work in the same unit in another vehicle as its serial number would be different.

Hi Kev,
I am certain you are correct.
It would not surprise men if all of those things were present.
The only thing I do know is, the SD Card is produced by Sensis Aust and that it and its Contents cannot be copied.
My Card is SD2 - CONNECT_2011_AustNZL V3 - I have no idea as to what the Current update is.

I would also be fairly certain, that there are Hackers quite capable of breaking their Locks.
Thank You for your Response - I find it hard to believe, in these Modern Times, that our Governments, allow these Rip Offs to happen, by any Manufacturer and any Product.
Cheers, Cobber.

Re: BOSCH GPS Unit 2012 XTrail T31

Today I found out, to my utter disgust, that the SD Card Update for the Bosch Head Unit, finished in 2016 - Just Four (4) years after my XTrail was manufactured - This is Disgusting.
There will be No More updates for XTrails, later than 2016 - I understand, from the Dealer, that the Dualis is affected similarily.
There is info on Google about getting around this problem, BUT, NOT for Australia.
IF the Yanks and Europeans can solve this problem, what is wrong with Australia.

SO _ another Chase for an Honest Seller who can set me up with a 7" Head Unit and the Full XTrail T31 Harness, with it, so that ALL Original Functions are still available.
I have just Wasted Two (2) weeks dealing with Two (@) Sellers of 10" Head Units - to date, I still do not know What is on BOTH Ends of the Cables, they provide. The last thing I discovered was, the Console USB & aux 3.5mm Head Set Plug, will be Lost, as it has not been provided for. I believe that these Sellers are NOT interested in the prospective Customers - Head Unit is good to Sell, Install is your Problem, but, you may Sened it back, at your Cost.
THIS, is haow Business is now done on EBay. The World we Live IN. Cheers

Hey Nacho
I am with a 10" Android unit on my T31. Although it doesn't have USB in the front it is not lost - you still can connect 2 USB cables on the back - you just need to find a way to get them to a convenient place. I didn't care about the 3.5mm plug, but I'm sure it can be connected as well.

Regarding the navigation. On my unit, I have 3 offline apps - Sygic, Here Maps, and iGo. I'm spoiled for choice of which one to use.

Regarding the cables... My advice is to look at the pictures, that's what I do. I don't expect an honest and useful answer from China. You are (I am) on your own here. So far I've upgraded every single car I had with an Android device and never had a problem with the cables. Even if you do, you can find all kind of cables on eBay/AliExpress.
