AC thermostat problem

Hi there, I have x-trail (T31) 2.0 cdi 4x4. Yesterday I noticed that my Air con. can cool the cabin only if the thermostat button is turned on max cool temperature (max position counter clockwise). To the blue dot, below 16 C. If I turn the button clockwise, only one position over the blue dot, it stars to heat the cabin, and blow hot air.

Any ideas what could be the problem?

Re: AC thermostat problem

Turning the dial full to the cold position ignores the in-cabin temperature sensor. This is mainly used for testing the aircon compressor.
My guess is that you have either a fault with the thermister which senses cabin temp or the controller not sensing the thermistor signal.
It may be as simple as a loose connector or broken wire.

Re: AC thermostat problem

If you have a service manual for your T31 you could follow the instructions in there to find both the thermistor and the wiring connectors for the controller. You will need to pull parts of the dash apart to get to both.
So if these are something you are not comfortable with then it would be best for the dealer to diagnose and repair the actual problem for you.
