2011 T31 A/C Replace Clutch & compressor or just clutch?

Hi there,
Long time lurker, first time caller here. I noticed my 2011 T31 A/C stopped working a few weeks ago. I took it to my general mechanic, a good Guy who I trust, as it was due a service anyway. Service is now done and he confirmed the clutch is not engaging. He is now getting a price on clutch and compressor. I have seen a number of threads here about the AC clutch failing, it seems to be a common problem with the xtrail?. I checked my VIN and its not part of the AC clutch recall Nissan did. Have people here just got their clutch replaced when it has failed, or did they they get the compressor done too? Did the compressor subsequently fail if you just got the clutch replaced? I have read for some cars getting clutch and compressor replaced does not cost much more than just the clutch when you consider labour costs. I am not up for replacing the clutch myself.

Thanks,

Sean
