2007 CVT LOW REVS ON TAKE OFF P0840

G'day brains trust,

Recently started running into issue after issue with my X-Trail

2007 CVT 217,000 on the clock

Normally never misses a beat but lately nothing but headaches

The other day I drained my fuel tank down pretty low due to laziness.
Once filled up I got an engine code P0840 (transmission fluid sensor) which is unrelated to fuel(just painting the whole picture)

Since then from stand still, I put foot down and just rolls until it picks of some speed. Sort of feels like it takes off in 2nd or 3rd. Revs sit at 2000 and slowly builds up.

I cleared the engine light as we know sometimes it can be a false light but its not.

The other thing is sometimes with the engine light on it drives as normal. No lag taking off.
Also a week before that AC decided to stop working

Yesterday I took it to my father in-law which is a mechanic. He checked CVT fluid and it was well past the full mark on the dipstick which is weird as last time anyone has touched it is when Nissan did a CVT flush at about 130K.
He also checked the gas and thats normal too. Hasn't dropped any gas.

I guess my main issue is the CVT as I've read that 07 CVT were not the best.

Just wondering if anyone has had similar issues and how it got fixed. I don't want to really pump thousands into the car if its going to keep giving me issues

Re:

What temp was the trans at when your FIL measured it?

Don't want to tell anyone to suck eggs, but in most auto transmissions there is a particular process to follow to ensure fluid level is correct.

If hot, it will be higher than the some of the info around suggests (or rather, level relates to more than just how much fluid is in there, it is also temp, airbubbles, or things like leak down from the torque converter.

When was the last time the belt, fllter and fluid was last changed? In most auto transmissions, changing fluid more regularly than the manual states is a good idea.
