I can give heaps of informations on Subarus at an exchange !nondisclosed_email@example.com (jf1sf5)Fri, 20 Sep 2019 21:02:29 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2097011,from=rss#post2097011https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2097011,from=rss#post2097011Yes, I think that there would be two options. First option would be a direct strut swap if the top hat bolts have the same PCD as the Forester, second option would be shocks and springs from the Xtrail with Subaru top hats. The spring OD of the Forester is 155mm (6"), the Xtrail's should be the same....if you want to check it for me....! As for the weight, both vehicules are approximately the same, 1'480kg for the Forester, 1610kg for the T30 series I, both 2'000cm3 petrol engines.nondisclosed_email@example.com (jf1sf5)Mon, 16 Sep 2019 21:30:09 +0000 Re: T30 rear struts shaft lengthhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2097009,from=rss#post2097009https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2097009,from=rss#post2097009I'm guessing then that you would also be buying Xtrail springs to suit the struts ? Have you compared the weights of the 2 vehicles to see if the Xtrail springs would be too stiff for your car ? Other than that, have you checked if your car's springs will fit into the Xtrail struts ?nondisclosed_email@example.com (Revhead Kev)Mon, 16 Sep 2019 08:45:06 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2097008,from=rss#post2097008https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2097008,from=rss#post2097008The suspension geometry is very similar on the Xtrail T30 and the Forester SF/SG, Mc Pherson struts on all 4 corners. Many people drive the Subaru without sway bars (or disconnected) with a 2" lift and the CV joints/boots don't seem to break. They sure wear out a little faster but I have driven 150K kilometers since the lift was installed and had to reboot the front CV's only once. As for the springs, I don't think that they come out of their mounting pads (lower spring perch and top hat) as the springs are still under compression when the shock is at full droop, even when the strut is not yet installed on the vehicule. I measured long time ago when diagonal spin occurs driving on a ramp. I was able to lift (from the ground) one wheel 27cm with both sway bars attached, and 38cm without sway bars on OEM shocks having 17cm stroke front and 20cm stroke rear. As the rear shocks on the T30 serie 1 seem to have more stroke, I wanted to be sure of that before buying them....nondisclosed_email@example.com (jf1sf5)Mon, 16 Sep 2019 04:46:07 +0000 Re: T30 rear struts shaft lengthhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2097007,from=rss#post2097007https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2097007,from=rss#post2097007The problem with disconnecting sway bars and 4wding without them connected is that the angle of the CV joints at full extension could then be too great and cause damage. The spring may also come off its mounting pad and not settle back into its correct position as it is not fixed into position but rather only kept inplace by its compression between the top and bottom mounts. I would suggest that could also be something you need to lookout for in your car.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Revhead Kev)Sun, 15 Sep 2019 22:53:56 +0000 T30 rear struts shaft lengthhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2097005,from=rss#post2097005https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2097005,from=rss#post2097005I am very intrigued with some specifications. I was at the mechanic and looked under a T30 phase 1 ('01-'03) and found that the rear struts have a lot of travel, something like 250mm stroke. Could any one confirm this ? The reason I'm interrested is to make my Subaru Forester more capable off road, the T30 struts seem to be compatible and probably have more stroke. Has any one driven a T30 without sway bars (or disconnected) off road, and how much more articulation does it give ? Thank you !nondisclosed_email@example.com (jf1sf5)Sun, 15 Sep 2019 22:15:25 +0000
