Re: PhotoBucket became a paid Photos Hosting Service
OK I think Flickr is the way forward.
It allows linking to forums and boards and has choices for either direct linking by URL (text display in forum which redirects to Flickr) or various thumbnail sized embedded images (which also redirect to Flickr for full-sized image).
The following is an extract from their help pages...
Copy the BBCode
Click a photo to open it.
Click the Share icon Right-pointing arrow.
Click BBCode.
Pick the size you want to display.
Copy the code and use it on your website.
Get a direct URL to it
Click a photo to open it.
Click the Download icon Click to download and image to Flickr..
Click View all sizes.
Click on the size you want to see.
Right-click the image.
Select Copy Image Location or Copy Image URL (text may vary per browser).
Their ToS lists the usual about copyright, non-violent, non-sexual, non-discriminatory and specifically states linking to blogs or boards with embedding is allowed provided the link-back to Flickr is kept.

Re: PhotoBucket became a paid Photos Hosting Service
See my examples of the Flickr linking in the test section here
Jalal,
The avatar in the control panel does not allow https links.
Could you please ask Runboard why and if there is anything they can do ?
I'm sure we could use tinyurl to create a http link and I suppose once it is done we don't need to keep doing it.
Atleast the links from Flickr seem to work for standard thread posts with the https links
...if anyone wants to see what form the Flickr links are in, just click "quote" in the test section post I did as if you are going to reply and then you will be able to see it

Re:
Thanks Kev,
It seems I already have a Flikr Account for the forum that I used a while back, but am not sure why I stopped using them, something I remember they did that made go to PhotoBucket instead.
Here is one of the pics from one of my existing albums on Flikr. Hopefully it works fine

Re: PhotoBucket became a paid Photos Hosting Service
Yes it does.
Also note I managed to work out how to get the avatar working...
just had to remove all the code before and after the img.../img placeholders and change the https to http such as

Re:
I didn't receive any notification from PhotoBucket just yet and I have 2 accounts with them.
Yes Dave, your Avatar is working fine for now and so is Julie's, but I'd migrate it across to Flickr if I were you.

Re:
Got the letter, now it's all gone.
I'm sorry, but couldn't cope with going back and re-doing pics. Just.too.hard. As I'm sure it is for lots of people.
I think we'll ending up having to host our own pics, for a cost - but at least we'll be paying for something we have control over.....more or less. I've been thinking of using a paid site for quite some time, but nothing ever appealed, and then I forgot.
Even so, paying doesn't guarantee forever, when they can shut sites down overnight, like they did with MegaUpload. Lots of people lost all their information, including businesses.
