Ownship Thoughts after 50,000 kms

Well my T32 TL had is 50,000 km service last Friday. There was nothing to fix and the motor has really loosened up and spins freely. I am regularly getting over 1,000 kms to the tank (you can check the form fuel monitor for the stats).

I spend a lot of time driving between Sydney and Canberra and it is such a pleasure to drive on the highway. It is so much more comfortable to drive long distances than my wife's Mazda 3 BL MZR-CD.

I am looking at fitting a Uniden UH8080S over the next month or so, in preparation for a trip to Perth in Jan 2017. Really looking forward to that trip. A couple of times my trip computer has showed a range of 1200+ kms and I know I can get from Ceduna to Balladonia no problems (980 km), but when I get there I am hoping there will still be enough fuel on board to push on to Norseman (another 200 km). If it shows over 250 to empty, I will keep going. The furthest I have gotten so far is 1086 kms before stopping to fill up, and I am sure I could squeeze out another 120 kms over the Ceduna - Norseman stretch.

Cheers

John

Re:

My only tip for the crossing to the west, beware the winds. They will eat up your fuel if you get the dreaded headwind.

However that is awesome fuel economy. I used to get 900kms regularly on my T31 series 1 out on the inland highways. But my current series 5 was weighed down a bit on my last holiday, so I didn't get any decent fuel economy. But it normally shows over 800-850kms distance when loaded lightly.

Re: Re:

Hi Scarry,

Yes, the winds are my only concern. I have done this trip over 20 times (I am originally from Perth), that is why I am going to wait until Balladonia before making a decision to push on to Norseman.

Cheers

Good then, there should be no surprises in store for you.
Hopefully you get the full distance on 1 tank of fuel and not have to pay the high prices along the way.
