Uneven Brake Pad Wear - T31 Xtrail Diesel

Hi All,

Wife having just picked up the Xtrail from its $721 service, has been told the rear brake pads have less than 5K in them, while the front are still quite ok.

Given the vehicle is only 38K old, i find this odd.

Does the X-Trail wear out the rear pads faster than the front? Surely not? Almost every vehicle i know if the fronts perform the majority of the braking, so the rears are often replaced well after the fronts had died.

What have fellow Xtrailers found in relation to brake pad wear?

The fact that the same dealer last service said the tyres need replacing, and now this service they apparently have 15K left on them is also something ill be discussing with their service manager !

Must visually inspect them when i get home, makes absolutely no sense to me

Cheers

Re:

It's just the dealer wants to create more work for themselves and charge you for it. I've been told all of my break pads are due for replacement at 35,000kms service. I am now at 55,000kms with the same pads.

I've just done over 103,000 ks with the original brake pads and they still have about 4mm each pad, each wheel, and thats with urban and freeway use. They still brake great.
