Trek 2 This was an easy drive from Bells Line of Road down to Burralow Creek. You will come to a T intersection at the bottom. If you turn right you will end up at Burralow Creek Camping Area. This is a nice open camp ground with toilet facilities. We stopped here and try the find the waterfall that is meant to be here. We did not find it. We had a nice coffee. Back on the trek we crossed over single lane bridge over the Burralow Creek. It is then a relative easy drive back to Bells Line of Road. While this Trek is not overly hard (You could easily do this is a car) it is a nice dive and a nice area to have a break. We stayed the night at Rustic Spirit for the night. This is a very nice place to stay the night. Trek 15 Sunday we started Trek 15 (Wheeny Creek & Mountain Lagoon). We did this in Reverse starting at Bilpin. The drive from Bilpin to Upper Colo Reserve was a pleasant easy drive with some nice scenery on the way. Upper Colo Reserve looks like a nice place to camp. We again stopped and had a coffee. On the way back to Kurrajong Heights we took a side trek that looked a little more challenging. Half way along this side trek I was having doubt as we hit the sidestep support brackets several time but the X-Trail seamed to handle it all easily. There where several great lookouts along the way. We did not make it all the way to the end of this side trek. We cam across a section that I thought would be a little to hard on the car. I think we will go back and try this trek again as Judy and I did enjoy the drive. Back on the normal trek we continued to Wheeny Creek. Again this looked like a good camp site and then back to Bells Line of Road. Again this Trek was not hard and could be done in a car (except the side trek). Judy and I had a great weekend away and are now look at another one in the next month.nondisclosed_email@example.com (cyberbrett)Sat, 28 May 2016 16:22:38 +0000 Re: Judy And Brett's Tripshttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2090960,from=rss#post2090960https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2090960,from=rss#post2090960Great to see that you are out and about in your exy Brett. It is a tough beast for a non low range fourbie and very capable in many situations that even the biggies find difficult. Just need to get to know the limitations of the vehicle which can best be done by reading reports from other contributors and/or having a go and gradually tackling more difficult routes. Always good advice to have other vehicles on the trip in the more difficult situations as well as having suitable recovery gear available. Happy tripping cheers nondisclosed_email@example.com (dlpeek)Mon, 28 Mar 2016 09:25:26 +0000 Judy And Brett's Tripshttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2090957,from=rss#post2090957https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2090957,from=rss#post2090957Hi All, Today we took Puddle Jumper for a spin off road. This follows on from me buy the book 4WD Treks Close To Sydney. My wife, Judy and I looked through the Treks and chose Trek 4: Convict Trail ( Wisemans Ferry to Wollombi or Wisemans Ferry to Putty Rd). Knowing that we would also have my Judy’s father with use (88 years old) I thought we would take an easy drive from Asquith to Berowra Waters then on to Wisemans Ferry then to Wollombi knowing this would be an easy run. The first stop was the St Albans Old General Cemetery, then on to Wollombi. We where going to have lunch at Wollombi but there where people everywhere there so we did not stop there. Judy then said that she would like to go to the Finchley Trig Lookout on the way home. Judy then said this road goes through to Putty Road we may as well do this as well. I had my concerns about her dad but he said he was up for it. Thankfully I had installed an engine bash plate on Saturday. This got tested twice on the run from the lookout to Putty Rd. While this Trek is rated as easy the run from the Trig Lookout to Putty Rd was pretty rough. We enjoy this run merry much. I have been a lurker and then a member of this forum for about a year. There are a lot of posts on this forum that say how good the X-Trail is. I will now become one of then. Puddle Jumper did not brake a sweat on this run. The sure-footedness of the X-Trail surprised me (I do need to raise it a bit though). We will be doing more Trek’s from this book and as we do them I will continue this post. I also was remiss in not take a picture of Puddle Jumper in it’s natural environment but I will do that on the next Trek.nondisclosed_email@example.com (cyberbrett)Sun, 27 Mar 2016 19:42:38 +0000
