Windscreen needs to be done by specialist. If the bullseye is in the driver's vision field then yes it should be replaced, otherwise a repair can be done if no long cracks. 2. Driveshaft can be replaced yourself if you know how to use tools and have a good breaker bar and torque wrench. If the boot is just split and the CV is not making noises then you might get away with a new boot and grease but fitting the boot is a pain and the "universal" ones are too large and wear inside the corrugations in a short time. 3. Control arm bushes are best replaced by doing the whole arm and can be replaced yourself, again if you have the tools. 4. Strut boots can be replaced yourself but you might need a helper because of the springs, or use a spring compressor. 5. No experience with rear diff mounts so can't help with those. Basically, if you know how to use tools and have them you can do everything yourself with the help of an Electronic Service manual, otherwise leave it to the mechanics.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Revhead Kev)Thu, 12 Nov 2015 12:06:36 +0000 Some advice please :)https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2089614,from=rss#post2089614https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2089614,from=rss#post2089614I recently purchased a 2004 Xtrail (T30) 5 speed manual. I need to do a RWC, so the mechanics I took the car to said the following had to be done, to pass the test: 1) Windscreen (Bullseye) on the windscreen (less than a size of a $1 coin) and will need replacement 2) LHF drive shaft leaking grease 3) FOC rear of control arm bushes are worn 4) FOC strut boots are ripped/split 5) rear diff front mounts (2) worn 6) Headlights need to be polished out - they where going to charge $176 bucks but I found a youtube video of using toothpaste !! and that did the trick! LOL 6) LH # plate globe needed replacement - so I did that All up I was quoted about $1800 to have all this replaced. I was wondering if some of this stuff can be done by myself to get this thing Roadworthy. Thoughts or would it just be easier to take to the mechanic?
