Auto electricians I speak to say that cleaning the engine bay with water is only inviting trouble. To clean my engine bay I do a small section with a rag each time I wash the car. After a few washes I end up with a spotless engine bay. I even do this after being off road in mud and dusty environments. nondisclosed_email@example.com (senior12)Mon, 03 Aug 2015 18:48:22 +0000 High pressure cleaning of your X-trailhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2088468,from=rss#post2088468https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2088468,from=rss#post2088468After a quick search, I could not find another thread on this subject. After seeing other X-trail owners seeking help within this forum topic, seeking help for many electrical faults, error codes and problems, I feel that many of these problems are associated with the common use of high pressure cleaners that seem to be available to most people these days. As vehicles these days are very complex in regards to the amount of high tech electrical components and computers fitted to modern vehicles primarily to extract higher performance from smaller light weight engines and the associated demand for better fuel economy. Also the high level of modern appointments, luxuries, and goodies built into todays cars, the amount of electrical connections are all prone to failure and fault. It easily goes in saying that forcing water and other pollutants into these connections and components is inviting trouble. The trouble may not occur immediately to wetting these components, but may take years to manifest itself. I personally never wet or pressure clean in the engine bay of my cars to help avoid electrical problems and faults. I believe that keeping the engine bay dry will pay large divideds in many ways further into the future. If I ever need to have work done at a mechanic or dealer, I ask them to refrain from cleaning the engine, particularly with high pressure cleaners. What do other X-trail owners think? nondisclosed_email@example.com (Ecstrail)Fri, 31 Jul 2015 11:12:07 +0000
