I'm thinking something quite slim. I'd like to be able to fit a small radio up the front, a pop down sunglasses holder, a couple of power outlets and a couple of adjustable lights towards the rear to use when the back seats are down and I'm searching around for luggage in the dark. Do any of the T30's have fold down sunglasses holders as options? Thinking I might check out the wreckers for something that might suit the build..nondisclosed_email@example.com (DaCam89)Tue, 13 Jan 2015 22:02:51 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2086576,from=rss#post2086576https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2086576,from=rss#post2086576 I don't think the exy roof is high enough to handle the roof console but I could be wrong.nondisclosed_email@example.com (jalalski)Tue, 13 Jan 2015 21:51:57 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2086574,from=rss#post2086574https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2086574,from=rss#post2086574I used a piece of 3mm MDF to get the contour of the roof, that way it's easy to take a piece off if need be.nondisclosed_email@example.com (cooch t31)Tue, 13 Jan 2015 18:16:35 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2086570,from=rss#post2086570https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2086570,from=rss#post2086570Thanks for the tips! Plywood is good as well but MDF will stay straight. Use a 3mm foam before you cover in vinyl to help smooth out the sharp edges. You can mount to the courtesy light above the front seats and also to the rear view mirror location. I used to make these consoles to suit FJ40 Cruisers and G60 Patrols and whoever wanted one many years ago.nondisclosed_email@example.com (cooch t31)Tue, 13 Jan 2015 08:12:19 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2086568,from=rss#post2086568https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2086568,from=rss#post2086568Yes, as I'm beginning to find out haha. I have seriously considered this. The only hurdle I've got is how to actually securely attach the finished product. I've also read that many are made out of MDF, is this material too heavy?nondisclosed_email@example.com (DaCam89)Tue, 13 Jan 2015 08:05:36 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2086562,from=rss#post2086562https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2086562,from=rss#post2086562That's the same response you will get for anything 4wd related products for an X Trail. Only option you have is to make something yourself. They are not that hard to make.nondisclosed_email@example.com (cooch t31)Mon, 12 Jan 2015 17:51:49 +0000 Custom Slim Centre Roof Consolehttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2086551,from=rss#post2086551https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2086551,from=rss#post2086551Hey everyone, Just wondering if anybody has considered fitting a slim centre roof console to their exy? I've got a 2012 T31 and have sent out a few inquiries for a project I was considering. Hit the usual xtrail roadblock and got the following email back. Curious to know if I was the only one considering this or if there would be more interest from any of you guys? "Thank you for your email and Happy New Year. At this stage; we do not have any patterns, prototypes or mounting point positions for the Nissan Xtrail. We did not have the opportunity or demand to design a Centre Roof Console for this model for the following reasons: - The product does not fit all models (ie. the models fitted with a genuine sunroof) - This vehicle has less headroom compared to other SUVs and 4WDs - The lighting and roof lining shape changes frequently between year models, which means our product would only fit a short run of this model We have not had enough demand to disperse the design and manufacturing costs. This product is not feasible to manufacture as a 'one-off' design I can add your details to a list of customers waiting on new products, but unfortunately we cannot help you out at this stage. If we have the demand to manufacture a product for this vehicle down the track (to spread the design costs) we will be in touch with you. Best regards"nondisclosed_email@example.com (DaCam89)Mon, 12 Jan 2015 09:37:24 +0000
