6 or 7 days holiday WA

Hey all,

If you had 6 or 7 days holiday at the start of January to use and go on a trip somewere in WA, what destination would you choose?

I've been up to Exmouth, monkey mia etc this year.

Where would you go?

Thanks
Jon

Plenty of places to go but weather conditions will play a massive part in your decision. Not worth going north at this time of the year but south to the South West (Augusta, Pemberton, etc), Albany or Esperance is good. Keep in mind it's also school holidays so they may be packed. Kalgoorlie is a bit quieter but further. Really depends what you want to do. Most towns have fire restrictions at the moment.

Yeah was thinking Esperance and perhaps the big sand dunes down there.

I'll be going totally solo so happy to fish camp and explore, plenty of photography as well.

The Duke of Orleans is a very good spot from what I've heard. Few tracks out that way. If you are on the 4x4 earth forum, someone has posted some info about it today. The beach drive from Wylie Bay to Cape Le Grand is good if it's not chopped up. There are some beaches like Rossiter that you do not want to go to as they are very deep and soft. Ask the visitor centre for some ideas.

Just remembered you are coming from Perth so Esperance is further than Kal. Lol

Have you done cape arid? I'm looking to do plenty of exploring, camping, fishing (possible charter out of Esperance) maybe abit hiking to view points. What about Israelite bay? Trying to think of a good route to take to cram in as much as possible

Nah. It is on my to do list. I'm apprehensive about doing Cape Arid alone as it is quite far from Esparance and if you breakdown, there's a chance you won't see people and unlikely to have any mobile phone reception. From what I've read, plenty of tracks there, some require low range and high clearance. I would take a lot of caution any advice from the guys who've done it in proper 4wd and say it's easy if they don't provide more details.
