SRS air bag warning light continually blinking
Hi all,
Packed the Exy for a long weekend trip to Karumba and as I pulled out of the driveway I noticed the SRS air bag warning light was continuing to blink. According to the manual this,
"monitors the circuits of the supplement front impact air bag, supplement side impact airbag, supplement curtain side impact air bags and pretensioner seat belt systems. The circuits monitored by the SRS warning light are the diagnosis sensor unit, crash zone sensor ..."
It goes on to say that it should be taken to a Nissan Dealer in order for it to be rectified as the SRS system may not deploy.
Though I am not certain what has caused this, I was thinking it may have occurred as I packed my thongs under the seat and perhaps knocked an air bag sensor/wiring underneath the seat. Other than that, I'm at a loss as to what may have triggered it.
I looked at some of the wiring under the seat and attempted to ensure all plugs were still in tact but didn't feel I should try too much in case of deployment or further problems.
Not confident that the local Isa mob will assess the problem properly or cheaply and was hoping fellow XTrail owners could offer up some advice if this has happened to them.
Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Benjamin

Re:
Hi Ben,
If it was just an accidental disconnection of any of the airbag wiring harness, the following re-set procedure will clear the flashing airbag warning. If it doesn't work, you should take the car to the dealership to trouble-shoot further:
1. Turn the key from off to on.
2. Watch the airbag light closely. It will stay on for a few secs. and then as soon as it blinks off (the start of the flashing), turn the key off instantly.
3. Count to 5 (1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi . . . .)
4. Repeat steps 1-3 two more times until you have done the cycle three times.
5. Now turn the key on and watch the light. It will start blinking in a different, slower manner. This is diagnostic mode. You can watch this for a little while, no hurry.
6. Now turn the key off again, Count to 5 like in step 3 again, and turn back on. If the procedure worked, the airbag light will not be flashing.

Re:
I had the same issue Ben.
I was running the wiring for my LED kickplates and had to remove the seat belt drum from its position to run wiring or something.
Anyway I must have knocked the airbag trigger switch and when all was together I got the flashing airbag light.
Very annoying when driving and the fact that it is red, really stands out.
The only fix was to get Nissan to clear it, they didn't charge me thank goodness.
I never knew of Jalals method and looks like it could work.

Re:
I find out this method after triggering the airbag warning when I was fitting the window time delay relay and when I started the car without replacing the airbag connector.

Re: SRS air bag warning light continually blinking
Ok thanks Jalal.
I will try this tonight when the Exy is available and see how it goes.
If not, hopefully Nissan can fix the problem free of charge too.
Like I said, nothing out of the ordinary should have been knocked except for maybe some wiring under the seat. At the time, I was about to drive 5hrs so I didn't want to make it worse or catastrophic like deployment.
Thanks all,
Ben

Re: SRS air bag warning light continually blinking
Ok so the process worked.
Will I be right to assume that is must have been an accidental knock and nothing serious?
As I would imagine it would blink again if it identified a fault right?
Therefore, no need to even approach Nissan?
Thanks for the advice guys.

Re:
Yes Ben, if the light went out after the re-set that means everything is OK and it was just an accidental disconnection of the harness. If there is something wrong with the wiring or the connection is still loose, the warning light will come on again but apart from that I reckon all is good mate.

Re: SRS air bag warning light continually blinking
Did the same thing once more and did the reset again, no problems.
Any idea on how to reset the auto up window for drivers side? That hasn't functioned properly since I disconnected the battery. Last time I did that the window just fixed itself after a few weeks.
Cheers

Re:
Have a look in the DIY section but from memory you just keep holding the button in the up position for 10 or 20 seconds.
