Let the brakes cool down before water crossing?

Hello my fellow cross-trailers,

I'm taking my T31 on a camping trip soon. There'll be a number of shallow creek crossings before getting to the camping ground. At that stage the car would have been travelling on bitumen highway for about 150km and brake pads and rotors must be quite hot. Should I pull over and let brakes cool down a bit before hitting the water? If I should, how long do you reckon is sufficient? And how can I tell the brakes are cool enough?

P.S. brakes components are still all stock.

Thanks a bunch!
Ben

Hi Ben
Always recommend cooling the brakes before any water crossing.
The time all depends on how long you use the brakes before reaching the crossing.

If you have been descending riding the brakes most of the way down, up to 5 minutes.
