abs noise?

Hi guys, my wife and I purchased a brand new 2013 t31 2wd xtrail last year & as soon as we took it out of the shop I noticed a thump sound coming from the left front wheel side. I made nissan aware of the fault and advice me to keep an eye on it. Today was my 10K kms service ( only done 5K) and showed them the same problem. They said it's the noise from the abs which is normal, won't affect driving or the car.
Because the car is quite new and it only makes the sound when you come from park/reverse to drive they say it's the sound of abs when it starts to work. I guess my question is, is it true that abs makes a thumping sound and is there a way to get rid of it.? Any response or experience sharing will be much appreciated.

All the best

Re:

Yes it's true and it the ABS self test sound. Pretty normal and it is more prominent when the brakes also adjust themselves from applying the brakes when reversing the car and then moving forward and braking.
