Re: Spirit of Tasmania

Jo I have travelled several times on the "Spirit" with my X-Trail as I lived there just 2 years ago before moving to Victoria. The trip on the "Spirit" is good especially if you get the normal smooth seas. Arrive early and wait to board about 6.00pm (first on last off) OR arrive close to final boarding time of around 7.00pm (Last on first off). You will dock in Devonport and depending upon how long your Tas holiday is and reason for the trip i.e. Typical "sight seeing tourist" or "4 x 4 off road/trout fishing will determine which way to begin your Tasmanian experience.
Let me know and I shall get back to you with a draft itinerary you may wish to consider. I shall also hunt out some pics and put them up on photo bucket with a link.
So exactly when are you going?
For how long?
What is reason for the trip?
Are you fishing? inland OR off shore?
Regards Tas

From a good few years ago but on repeated occasions, I learned not to eat their scrambled eggs for breakfast.

They were not real scrambled eggs but were actually reconstituted powdered eggs and they are the most effective laxative I've ever discovered.

Re: Tassie here we come

I travel to Tasmania every year for annual fly fishing trip.
Definitively I would not recommend sleeping overnight on their
recliners. It will take few days to recover from bad night sleep.
It's worth spending extra money, book a cabin and wake up fresh.
Meals at the buffet are OK. Never had breakfast at Spirit of Tasmania,
usually end up in McDonald's in Devonport.
Try to write down on which level you parked. There is no access to vehicles during
overnight voyage so get yourself overnight bag.
Take sea sickness tablets, just in case.
Have nice trip.
cheers
