front seat light assembly removal ?

Dear X-Trailer,

may I seek your advice on how to remove the front seat light assembly in T31, the whole frame I guess? I'm attaching the picture to avoid confusion.

Image

I'm going to use one of the circuits behind it to feed my dashcam to be mounted next to the rear mirror.
Basically I would like to understand to which side and in what direction I apply the reasonable force so the frame does not get broken.
I have got the picture from the manual but it does not help much as far as getting how to pull this frame out.
There must be a trick to use emoticon May be extra tools or something?

Appreciate your feedback.

Re:

You'll just need a small flat blade screw driver or a plastic trim removal tool (if you have one). If using the screw driver, take care not to mark the trim.

You'll need to remove both lenses. Refer the exploded image you provided. Each lens has 3 mounting claws the grab onto small mounting tabs on the Map Light Unit. Lenses are identical. Remove one lens at a time.

Image

Referring image below, insert tool between the grey trim and the lens where I've marked in the red. Do the ones on the hindged side first, which I marked 1. Once release, pry at the area where I've marked 2.

Once lenses are off, undo the screws or bolts. Remove the Map Light Unit to expose your wiring. Happy Days.

I might just add that I'm unsure of whether that circuit can safely support a Dash Cam or not. Will depend on the circuit's amp rating.

Re: front seat light assembly removal ?

Is there constant power at that point? And don't dash cams need to be powered on and off with the ignition? Curious to know how you are going to make this work because it's a good idea in theory....

Re: front seat light assembly removal ?

Hi Guys,

Sorry to bring this thread up from the dead, but if replacing the whole assembly how difficult is the wiring to reconnect?

Would I require any special tools i.e soldering iron or connectors?

Kind regards,

Jack
