T31 Tradesman Roof Rack System

Hey guys,

I done a search on the site but nothing came up about these.

Was just wondering has anyone any experience of these roof racks for the X-Trail?

Also does anyone know how they're fitted to the roof? and what sort of money they are?

http://www.tradesmanroofracks.com.au/all-products/x-trail.aspx

Thanks
Mants

Re:

These sort of racks are often more expensive that a full caged rack.
You are looking at around $600- $700 depending on manufacturer.

Re:

What I meant by full cage is it enclosed around all four sides where as the tradesman rack only has the two long sides on it.
Alan's option is by far the cheapest if you only want to carry Kayaks.

Re:

Thanks for the info guys, thats great.

The only thing that puts me off abit about roof bars is the height they sit up from the roof, the heavy duty ones which id probably need seem to sit pretty high, thats the one thing i like about the rack is it seems to sit quite low down and still has the function of being able to carry other items up there such as tent, sleeping bags or max trax at the same time as the kayak, were as with the bars nothing else can really go up there while the kayak is on.

Re:

The racks will only sit up 150mm at the most, at least this way you can still wash the roof.

Re: T31 Tradesman Roof Rack System

You don't need to spend that much on a set of roof racks if it's mainly to transport a couple of kayaks.

I've been using a set of J-racks on mine and can transport 2 kayaks easily this way or some people prefer to just get a set of wider bars when matching up to the foot set to be able to transport both kayaks side by side (easier if they can be transported upside down this way). Depends on the width of your kayaks also.
