T31 Petrol Oil Filter

Hi Guys,

Has anyone thought of changing over to the K&N Oil Filter which is washable and re-usable?

It is K&N SS-1008

Seems like a great idea and would eventually reduce the cost of servicing your exy.

Also handy if you're doing the oil changes yourself.

Re: T31 Petrol Oil Filter

Looks like quality but ridiculously expensive, it will also take a lot of oil changes to get that ROI particularly when you can buy bulk lots of oil filters online for pretty cheap. However, the most important thing before committing is seeing real world filtration results because any marketing gumf from K&N should be taken wit a grain of salt.

Re:

As a user and an avid supporter of K&N, I know they sell quality products that last a life-time. The price tag of this filter seems reasonable when compared to what Nissan dealers charger you for a change of the standard oil filter every 6 months and add labour to that charge as well.

It may feel good to use K&N products, they are built well but reality is you really aren't saving money, you also are getting in relation to air filters, worse filtration and no tangible performance benefit when vs changing the oem panel. Sure getting Nissan to change your filters and paying Nissan labour prices would be scary but I'll buy a box of 10 filters at a time and change them every 12 months and stilsave money. It's a myth that oem paper panels don' t flow well enough. Enough digressing though, oil filters are a different kettle of fish, and I would be interested stats on the performance of this filter, to me it's only worth buying if proven filter better than an oem oil filter.

I am assuming we are still talking about the OIL filters? so, am not sure why you are dragging the K&N air filter, performance and other things into this....we don have an existing topic covering the K&N air filters (and others) and you are free to share your views and opinions relating to air filters in those threads.

Let's keep this one on the topic of oil filters which have nothing to do with performance gains and I know that K&N offer the best filtration with their oil filters which far exceeds any OEM oil filter out there.
