Must adjust neutral position of steering angle sensor after wheel alignment etc

Just noticed this in the ESM:
"If steering angle sensor, steering system parts, suspension system parts, ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) or if wheel alignment has been adjusted, be sure to adjust neutral position of steering angle sensor before driving."

For most I guess this means after a wheel alignment or replacing or modifying any suspension/steering parts!!! Not needed after tyre rotation or replacement.

This can only be done with Consult II (presumably by a dealer).

Reason being, I guess, is that the power steering of the XTrail is electric and there is also a steering angle sensor that works with ESP system.

Mods - This might be a good one to make a sticky.

I noticed my steering wheel wasn't sitting level after a recent wheel alignment. I guess this explains it!

Re: Must adjust neutral position of steering angle sensor after wheel alignment etc

My car came back from a dealer service during which the dealer did a wheel alignment, and my steering wheel is not straight. Might follow it up.

Re:

All they will do is remove the wheel and turn it round until it sits straight.

Re:

They should actually be using a steering wheel clamp when doing the wheel alignment to prevent this from happening. That's what they did with my T30 when I had the wheel alignment done. It locks the steering wheel in the dead centre position while they're adjusting and doing the wheel alignment.
