Chichester State Forest-16-17th Nov

Going to go to Chichester with my dogs camping this coming Friday 25th Oct.
Happy to have company or advice (Hi Toddy, reading yr trip reports).
Thinking of returning to Sydney Mon 28th or Tues 29th.
Can be flexible if anyone wants to do Olney instead.
Hoping fires allow.
My Xie is standard with bash plates.

Postponed my trip to Nov due to current fire restrictions

Re: Chichester State Forest-25-26Oct

Gail just a thought. I will be with mostly bigger 4x4s who I'm sure at some stage will want to take the most difficult route possible. Will you have topo maps and a UHF radio with you?
You're obviously welcome to tag along the whole time but if things get too difficult it would be good if I could direct you around an easier way and stay in contact.

I'm going to deliberately interpret that as you saying I'm a "bigger 4x4" Todd emoticon I might be dragging a mate along who'll need to take the chicken tracks atm so Gail shouldnt be the only one emoticon

Hi Todd,
Have the topo map but no UHF yet.
Can entertain myself during day- hiking and chicken track touring.
Worried that all may be off given fires...complete fire ban and ban of gas BBQ at Barrington NP.
Will check ltr in week

Yeah Gail we are planning on having another look at the fire situation on thursday.

Also our plan TBC is to pack up from Frying Pan Saturday morning and head towards Barrington NP/SF. We will probably camp over that way Saturday night.

NP closures

"Due to the current fire emergency, all national parks have been closed across the Blue Mountains, Hunter, Central Coast, Port Stephens and Dungog areas until further notice."

This has been pasted from
http://www.environment.nsw.gov.au/parkinfo/alertOctober2013.htm

Maybe in Nov now...emoticon
But my heart goes out to all affected and am happy to respect closures if it protects the areas we love to enjoy

"During a Total Fire Ban no fire may be lit in the open; this also means that you can't use portable stoves in the bush"

Guess it's just a glass of wine and a weekend pouring over the maps for next time.
