Spent the weekend pouring over the maps. The Tops to Myalls Trail on one of the maps seemed to have a 4wd track running pretty parallel, but I wasn't sure. There sure is a lot to do up there even keeping to the well marked tracks. Monkerai is also supposed to have a nice dog camping place with amenities-good for when friend comes. Will check it out too. Not too far away to look forward to.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Strez)Mon, 28 Oct 2013 11:49:49 +0000 Re: Chichester State Forest-16-17th Novhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2078851,from=rss#post2078851https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2078851,from=rss#post2078851You will do Barrington Forest Road, Pheasant Creek Road and Dilgry Circuit no problems Gail. In Chichester just stay on the main trails and you will be fine. Monkerai Road through to Gloucester will also be fine. Myall Heritage Trail is a walking trail. Can't help you there.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Toddyh03)Mon, 28 Oct 2013 09:44:30 +0000 Re: Chichester State Forest-16-17th Novhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2078849,from=rss#post2078849https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2078849,from=rss#post2078849Yep going in two weeks time. Not in Hunter or Dungog councils which should mean it is still open. Chichester is also a state forest so would not be subject to NP closures. One of our guys called NPS and RFS yesterday and they said it would be fine to go this weekend but there would definitely be a total fire ban in place. Cold meats and BBQ chooks for lunches and dinners I think.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Toddyh03)Thu, 24 Oct 2013 06:41:54 +0000 NP closureshttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2078746,from=rss#post2078746https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2078746,from=rss#post2078746"Due to the current fire emergency, all national parks have been closed across the Blue Mountains, Hunter, Central Coast, Port Stephens and Dungog areas until further notice." This has been pasted from http://www.environment.nsw.gov.au/parkinfo/alertOctober2013.htm Maybe in Nov now... But my heart goes out to all affected and am happy to respect closures if it protects the areas we love to enjoy "During a Total Fire Ban no fire may be lit in the open; this also means that you can't use portable stoves in the bush" Guess it's just a glass of wine and a weekend pouring over the maps for next time.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Strez)Wed, 23 Oct 2013 21:09:29 +0000 Re: Chichester State Forest-25-26Octhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2078706,from=rss#post2078706https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2078706,from=rss#post2078706Yeah Gail we are planning on having another look at the fire situation on thursday. I will be with mostly bigger 4x4s who I'm sure at some stage will want to take the most difficult route possible. Will you have topo maps and a UHF radio with you?
