I imagine driving around the sunny coast is a very different story to mine in peak hour Brisbane

Quite so.

My fuel figures are specific to my situation which does not usually involve bumper to bumper peak-hour traffic or daily mountain climbs.

However, my figures are statistically robust as the average from 45 fuellings (filled to the brim each time) currently sits at 8.51 L/100 Km - and falling.

The log showing each refill (with comments), is available for general perusal on the Spritmonitor site.

Currently I seem to be driving the most economical 2.5 litre 4wd X-Trail ... in the World!

Jeremy Clarkson would be disgusted.

Re:

Thanks for the Info guys
I did not get to complete full tank as whent for trip up to D Aguilar national park on weekend so had to refuel.
But out of what I had used I had consumption of 13.5 l/100km from 98 ron.
at end of this tank I will put some injector cleaner in and run another test.

The exy went great even with the extra weight in it up the muddy hills of D Aguilar national park qld , Even Made it up A Break hills in the wet, surprised a few of the big boys.
Cheers

Re:

I have just about used another tank but only reg unleaded, but this is interesting since last tank I have installed an OBX TBS and have been giving it a complete hiding all week using 2nd gear to max and playing around hills I have to put it in auto mode so I still have some traction around corners. I will fill up tonight but by the looks I will still be around 14 lt /100 even after flogging its arse off.

Re:

Just want to let people that dont know that the oxygen sensors only work when the ecu is operating in closed loop (light cruise) to keep the afr around 14.7:1. Under acceleration / load the ecu runs on preset maps, so if you drive hard all the time you can never expect good economy, but if you drive gently with a lot of light cruise and the economy is still bad it is possible the oxygen sensor is bad.

Re:

Thanx that makes sense because from driving as hard as possible fuel ecconomy is no worse than just cruising. After it was on dyno the mech had said the O2 sensor was fine.
I may look at replacing it .

Re: Please Help avg fuel cosumption 14.5l /100

Have the car dyno'd at another workshop and get both power run and light cruise afr's checked. Plus a second opinion wouldn't hurt and should cost less than $100.
