I distinctly remember having a post service discussion with one of their service workers re; this issue and he apologised and said I wasn't charged for it because I had pointed out to him that Nissan did not recommend the air filter be changed at 80,000KM and I had put in the old one {cleaned up"}only to take the vehicle in for the service as the K&N filter was still drying! They charged me $36.95 for a piece of paper I neither want nor have a use for ... Another point to raise with the Service Manager when I call today, ho hum!nondisclosed_email@example.com (omdafyd)Tue, 03 Mar 2015 08:24:04 +0000 Re: "recommendations" from nissan service centrehttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2087109,from=rss#post2087109https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2087109,from=rss#post2087109 Yep that's right, thanks mate. I just confirmed with Spare parts at FTG Nissan, that a retro fit can be done in @ ten minutes, the filter was $39 something I think. He stated that they work well as the old ones he has seen seen are filthy and when I said my lungs are a bit dodgy he reckons it's a worthwhile job for me to do.nondisclosed_email@example.com (omdafyd)Tue, 03 Mar 2015 08:03:55 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2087103,from=rss#post2087103https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2087103,from=rss#post2087103The element assy and that part number refers to the paper air filter. I doubt they put the cabin filter for you, as the T30 doesn't come with one from the factory and unless you specifically ask them to fit one. They won't do it themselves.nondisclosed_email@example.com (jalalski)Mon, 02 Mar 2015 16:14:51 +0000 Re: Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2087102,from=rss#post2087102https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2087102,from=rss#post2087102quote:jalalski wrote: HERE you go Dave Nissan dealers call it Cabin Filter sometimes. As all this air goes through it constantly when the car is moving, replace it every 40k as recommended. If you have missed a service or you can see sludge build up in the top end I would recommend an engine flush additive but then again you can buy them from nearly any auto parts store and DIY. Cabin filters are a rip off. Air filters too. Oil filters used are generally the same quality as a general filter. This is all from a Volvo perspective but you can save a lot of money by DIY with servicing. We have many customers come in for services. No adds, No filters. Only oil change and oil filter and inspection for brakes and LCA bushes and engine mounts. Save your money. nondisclosed_email@example.com (tBex)Tue, 23 Jul 2013 09:38:17 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2076223,from=rss#post2076223https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2076223,from=rss#post2076223Cabin air filters from the manufacturer are a great ripoff and a great way for the dealers to make money (along with flushes, intank injector cleaner etc) Of course they are made in China/Thailand/Indonesia as well just like the other filters are, not Japan. For a T31 you can get the Sakura filter for about $25-30 locally from a sakura stockist (eg sparespro or sydney filter service) http://sakurafilter.adr-group.com/index.php/productdetail/index?snum=CAC-1810&title=Sakura%20Number%20-%20CAC-1810&id=2 For a T30 I bought a Fram filter, this has baking soda and carbon in it, absorbs odours, even heavy truck odors and rubbish tips end up getting absorbed quite well. http://www.framcatalog.com/PartDetail.aspx?b=F&pn=CF10140 - you can get them from Amazon quite cheaply One of the funniest things is reading a Toyota or Nissan manual they will say that each car runs best with NO additives, yet plenty of their dealers will upsell you said additivesnondisclosed_email@example.com (DJR9000)Mon, 22 Jul 2013 20:00:16 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2076189,from=rss#post2076189https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2076189,from=rss#post2076189My dealer never gave me anything like an LED torch or Barby pack, all I got from them was grief, lol.nondisclosed_email@example.com (cooch t31)Mon, 22 Jul 2013 06:23:01 +0000 Re: Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2076182,from=rss#post2076182https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2076182,from=rss#post2076182$30! I was charged $55 on 'special' for the filter alone as a supply cost at the last service! Apparently it was heavily reduced from the normal cost. Fitting was obviously absorbed into the set Service fee but I saw that item as an added unnecessary cost on the bill and swore never to pay for that again. Well , to be fair, maybe the filter might need replacing every 2 -3 years with my usage, but not annually. Up-selling is the name of the game if a Dealer is to make a profit. nondisclosed_email@example.com (DogTrail)Sun, 21 Jul 2013 22:27:47 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2076177,from=rss#post2076177https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2076177,from=rss#post2076177>If wide awake, also tell them not to change the very expensive air conditioning cabin micro-filter every year if you don't use the a/c all that often. Stick to the capped price service schedule and ask them not to do anything extra. Nissan Sutherland actually charged me less than the capped service price at the last service due to me having a K&N air filter which didn't require checking and/or changing.nondisclosed_email@example.com (jalalski)Sat, 20 Jul 2013 14:31:21 +0000 "recommendations" from nissan service centrehttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2076114,from=rss#post2076114https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2076114,from=rss#post2076114Dear xtrail owners, I would like to know your opinion about practicality of the following recommended extra services. Every time i serve my xtrail i am "advised" to go for "on-car injector flush" and "throttle-body service" besides usual list of checks/oil changes. Nissan Sutherland wants $150 per each item ( that's where i served my car twice). Nissan Rockdale has a bundle of $200 something which includes 2 above services plus extra 3rd one. My questions: - is it worth the money? - have you noticed any difference in car performance? - if not, how do you know it has actually been done? - is it worth doing in genuine Nissan service centre? Thanks!nondisclosed_email@example.com (xtr41l)Sat, 20 Jul 2013 13:51:49 +0000
