Re: rear modular storage system

This is our setup. Has to be removed to get to spare tyre. Tied down to the four anchor points. It is made of 3 ply on pine frame. Now have an Engel fridge instead of icebox.

No Gail, plastic Ki-tab boxes from Bunnings. Have a timber spreader across the top of each drawer to keep lip in the drawer track as they are not straight and rigid.

Group buy maybe?
That's so expensive, it couldn't possibly be that much to DIY?

Re:

Don't get me wrong, it's a really functional and attractive setup.. but even with the fact that it would be a pain in the a** , you could easily knock up something like that for less than $1000, even with the gas-struts to assist with lifting the false floor, etc. I wouldn't pay that kind of money for a full-size drawer system in a landcruiser/patrol, and those things are twice the size of that xtrail-specific drawer system. I never enquired about the price with that site, as I sold my T30, but I wouldn't have even considered it for that price.

Re:

I can understand the price tag for such a system which includes the time spent designing it and make it readily available for those who can't embark on such a project as DIY activity. Totally justified indeed.

Re: rear modular storage system

Project complete!
Total cost: (poplar ply+screws+turnbuckles+belts+watercans+pipes) around 270EUR + 40EUR (fuel tank) = 310EUR (~410USD)!
