*NEW T30 RECALL*Airbag Inflator*
Hi Guys,
I just received a notification of a new recall impacting some T30 X-Trails (range un-known at this stage).

Identifying features
Campaign number: R1302
Target: 11,360 units
What are the defects?
Some airbag inflators were manufactured out of specification, which can create excessive pressure within the inflator during air bag deployment and result in abnormal deployment.
What are the hazards?
If the defect occurs, the airbag may not adequately protect occupants in the event of a collision.
Where the product was sold
Nationally

What should consumers do?
A letter will be sent to affected owners. Customers may contact a local Nissan dealer to arrange for inspection and, where necessary, rectification of the front passenger airbag inflator.

Re:
A bit too late to be worrying about a 13 year old car driving on the road for 13 years with an airbag defect LOL

Re:
I know Kev, I was just kidding, but 13 years later Nissan suddenly discovered that the inflator doesn't work properly??? What were they thinking for all those years and shouldn't at least one of their service departments caught that defect......a bit sooner!
I agree Mark, I reckon this could be a T30 recall but let's wait and see maybe in 13 years time it will apply to the T31 as well LOL

Re:
It has been confirmed by Nissan Australia that this recall does NOT impact on any T31 X-TRAIL and it is T30 specific for some T30 models manufactured between 2000 and 2004.
If you bought your T30 X-Trail 2nd hand and the Nissan owner database doesn't show you as the current owner, you can potentially miss-out on receving the letter from Nissan Australia about this recall.
You will need to call Nissan Customer Service on 1800 035 035 and have your details and the VIN number ready, so they can inform you if your T30 is impacted by this recall or not.

Re:
That's going to open up a whole can of worms as now owners will start blaming Nissan for injuries that may have occurred in an accident relating to air bag deployment.
