Re:

Nice Max.
I had a set of Comet 500's on 3 different cars.
Every time I sold a car I would remove them and fit to the new car.
I finally let them go with the Xy.
Amazing light output from a small diameter lens.
Loved them.

Re: Max's T30

Thanks tony,

We have had the exy since November last year, and haven't done any night driving (except for around town) as in the NT its advised that you don't drive at night due to animals.

However my partner and I flew from Sydney to Alice Springs yesterday and began the 500km drive back Tennant Creek and we drove the last hour in the dark so I got to use the driving lights for the first time and gee they made a difference. Some of the straights up her are 10km's long and right off in the distance the lights were bouncing of the reflectors.

I don't know what I did without them emoticon

Ahh the sounds of silence.

I hope the T30 doesn't have the same side effects of doing this mod.
Have a read here to see what happens to the T31.

Re: Max's T30

So I did a service at home today, changed the oil and filter, spark plugs and cleaned the K & N air filter. Then after i finished i decided to unwrap my second hand bash plate thanks to Pieter from the forum emoticon

Image

took me an hour of mucking around to get it on. Gee those rear bolts with the flat nuts that slide up inside the cross beam are tricky. A few choice words later and its all fitted. Ran out of daylight to snap a pick of it on but will do that tomorrow.

here is the fitted photo

Re: Max's T30

So i ordered some LED interior lights off ebay. The color is bright white and they look great. The seller sent me the wrong globe for the map light but is sending me the right one asap emoticon

Had my drama with the boot light. Didn't realise that there was no interior top cover to the light and that it lead straight into the roof cavity. Stupid me doing the change in the dark lead to the globe flicking up into the roof. but luckily with a coat hanger i got the globe out. otherwise that would have been an annoying rattle for the rest of my life hahahaha

Here are some photos:

Its much brighter in the car now which makes finding things easier emoticon

Re: Max's T30

So I was bored at home today and decided to make a bracket to mount my Treds recovery tracks to my roof basket. For the Max Trax owners out there you will know that you can by a special locking bolt the shape of an old key to mount your tracks.

Unfortunately Treds do not have this option. So What I did was purchased the 4 key shaped bolts designed of Max Trax and modified my Treds to fit.

Image

Image

When you turn the end part of the bolt it locks the track in place as seen below.

Image

The treds had 4 holes. 2 at each end, i modified the hole on both treds to fit the max tracks bolt.

Image

Thats when I struck a problem. When the tracks are stacked and mounted on the bolts the end of the bolt does not turn as it touches the plastic. I ummed and arrrred about cutting the tred so that the bolt would turn. I know cutting the track will weaken it slightly but I decided to do it anyway. I only needed to cut one and that means it will need to be the one mounted last.

Image

(after I cut it i wanted to see what would happen if I drove on it so i backed over it in my driveway. Since it still has enough strength in it for me to drive on it in the drive way it will be fine in sand)

I then made up a bracket the shape of a rectangle and drilled holes in it to mount the tred bolts in and i fitted it to the roof basket.

I forgot to take photo's of the bracket building stage but this is what it looks like while its in the painting phase.

And here is the finished product mounted on the car.
