Re: Central Australia

Hi Whip thanks for the tips. Good to know the Palm Valley and Kings Canyon walks are less than a half day as that's pretty much all the time I'll have.

I won't have time for any of your other suggestions unless rain closes Ernest Giles Road and I can't get to the meteorite crater. In which case I will probably push through Alice all the way to Uluru in one day. If that does happen I may try to get to Chambers Pillar instead. I believe that is only a day drip.

Yeah I'm not really planning the return visit just yet emoticon but I'm sure once I get back I'll want to pack up and head out there again.

Re: Central Australia

Should your plans change due to road conditions I would recommend seeing the sunset at Rainbow valley - it's absolutely spectacular and well worth an evening or early morning walk. It's only a short drive off the Stuart Hwy and a quicker trip from there to Uluru than going via Chambers Pillar.

Re:

I thought I'd throw our itinerary up... while we'll be travelling with Todd the first week, we wanted a bit more time in Alice, so won't be doing the trip up to QLD and mid-NT. Our journey is about 3,000kms shorter... so a little bit more relaxed

5 days to go. Just had a full service done today, and cleaned up the engine bay to make it look pretty.

Leaving at 9:30am on Saturday. Should have a blog up and running in the next few days.

Re: Central Australia

Gave the car a quick bath on the weekend to get some 'before' photos. You might be able to see the mudflaps I dodged up from some cheap rubber. Hopefully help keep some of the rocks down.
