Central Australia
Hey everyone I am planning a 4 week trip from Sydney to Central Australia. Will be departing on or around 10 August 2013. At this stage Michael (Konazz) has shown interest for part of the trip, but I thought I'd just let everyone else know my plan, throw it out there to anyone who wants to join all or part.
It will be a heavy driving trip with most days being 6-7 hours. Most stops will be a single night. The plan at this stage is to get out past Bourke asap and head towards Cameron Corner. From there the trip will include:
- Innamincka (the Dig Tree etc)*
- Strezlecki Track
- South Lake Eyre
- Birdsville Track
- Birdsville and Big Red*
- Donahue Hwy and Plenty Hwy from Boulia to Alice Springs
- Uluru
- The Olgas
- Kings Canyon
- Coober Pedy*
- Oodnatta and Oodnadatta Track to Coward Springs
- Parachilna Gorge and through Flinders Ranges*
- Broken Hill/Silverton*
*More than 1 night stop

Re:
Yep. Myself and Rob (in his BT-50) will be tagging along with Todd up until South Lake Eyre.
Where Todd heads up the Birdville Track, we will continue along the Oodnadatta towards Alice Springs for a slightly shorter trip.
This is the rough plan... some are o/night stops, some are just tourist spots

Re: Central Australia
Gail A/T tyres would probably get you through this trip. A lift would also be a nice option just in case. Really if it's DRY, 90% of this trip is doable in a 2wd car.

Re: Central Australia
Hi Guys,
I'm from Nowra NSW but am currently living in the Red Center. I lived in Alice Springs for 9 months and have recently moved to Tennant Creek. I would drive down to meet you but i will be most likely living over in Broome when you do your trip.
I have done all of the west and east mac ranges, uluru, olgas, kings canyon, davenport ranges.
I havent done the tracks you plan to do :-(
If you require any info for trip planning I would be happy to help if you need it
--- Cheers

Re: Central Australia
Hi Gail, sadly nothing next year. Some mates of mine are planning a Cape York Trip 2015. No details as yet other than it will be dry season (late winter).
We will keep this thread about Central Australia hey

Re: Central Australia
Hi Carol, certainly would not object to anyone joining this trip. Provided they are self sufficient (i.e. have their own water, food, tools, spares etc). That's about the only requirement.
