Re: M9R Diesel ECU Software update available

Sorry to re hash an old post...but I found out the hard way with my t31 diesel, spun a bottom end bearing. In the link below nissan seems to know there is a fault and tried to update ecu software to compensate. Which I didn't know about. Any of your xtrails developed a knock?

Re: M9R Diesel ECU Software update available

Sorry Julie but no problem in mine.
My TL has covered over 60,000km since the software update. No problems at all.

I'm curious though - is yours a manual or auto? I'm wondering if the 127kW manual versus the 110kW auto may be the difference. Most M9R fitted cars are the 110kW with the only exception being the Manual diesel Xtrail. Perhaps the extra power is too much for the bearings.

Re:

Never mind replying Julie, saw your entry in the engine mechanical section and I note it's a 2008 Auto. It won't be CVT as the Diesel was never matched to a CV Transmission, it will be the 6-speed auto. Sounds like the performance chip might have "over-clocked" the engine (to steal a computer term) and might have been too much for the bottom end bearings. Very sorry to hear this as I anticipate it will be a costly repair.

I'd suggest you might want to put a separate entry in this "T31 Diesel" section warning against the performance chips and referencing that letter you found.

Good luck with your repairs...it would be appreciated by many if you could perhaps provide some pics and progress reports?

Cheers

My 6sp manual is humming along very nicely with 55,000km on the clock.

I do change oil & filter every 5,000 km in between log book service and am hoping that long term it will return the favour with reliability & longevity.
