Re: M9R Diesel ECU Software update available
Hi Chris,
It doesn't look there are any software updates available for the T31 Diesel, as I just checked with the local dealer service manager who knows me quite well and this is the response I got:
quote:
Hi Jalal,
I have checked our system and there is currently NO update we are able to select and upload.
I have emailed Nissan to ask the question. I’ll get back to you with more info once Nissan respond.
I will let you guys know if Nissan responds any differently, but usually any software update is made available for the dealers to download and push-out, so if the dealers can't see it then it doesn't exist.

Re: M9R Diesel ECU Software update available
And here is the response from Nissan Australia:
quote:
This patch will not be released for general updating. The update must be approved and released by Nissan Techline as it only applies to some vehicles.
We (the dealers) need to submit data to Nissan and they decide if the update will remedy the issues raised.
So there is indeed an ECU software patch available, but not for all diesel models it seems.

Re:
I guess so Mark, your dealer would have provided your vehicle details to Nissan Techline and it would have been identified in need of an update.

Re:
Hey mark, you say your performance increased and turbo kicked in earlier, do you have any further info? when did the turbo kick in before the upgrade and when does it kick in now? what were your fuel figures previously and now?
Jalal, any way we can get further info from Nissan Australia regarding what criteria they follow for selecting the certain vehicles that require the upgrade?

Re: Re:
interesting that when I had the relearn procedure done last week, the service manager informed me they also loaded the latest updates.
I have no way of verifying revision levels - I don't think the info is presented at the OBD2 port.
Having been involved in various equipment software updates over the years, some of these can be quite subtle and not obvious to detect.

I don't know how exactly it works, but the ECU upgrade has definitely affected the turbo's characteristics and the engine seems to breathe better. Prior to the upgrade I was getting around 7.8-8.0/100km now I'm down at 7.4.
On a run up to Sydney I can get it down to 7.3. Definitely running more economically.
Part of it might also be because the mechanic told me to not be afraid to put a little bit of boot in as it assists the turbo boost (the VGT is vacuum controlled). This engine is not meant to be driven like a tractor - keep the revs up.

Re: M9R Diesel ECU Software update available
Hi Guys and Gals, I had the dpf upgrade done a couple of services ago, is this the same upgrade mentioned here?
Ferntree Gully Nissan always do all the upgrades as they come on line. Good Nissan Dealers and if your in Melbourne and buy from elsewhere you've done yourself and your New EXY a disservice. They are Australia's most awarded Nissan Dealer, and we won't go elsewhere unless traveling and encounter a problem. Very friendly too and they love me. They love my new DBA T2 extreme 4X4 brakes and Munroe shocks as well.
It made me go a bit better, better turbo pick up for sure, though no real improvement in fuel economy, that might be because of the way Dad drives me though. I return 8.1L/100 average.
I went through a DPF burn not so long back, Dad noticed my economy going out the window, so quickly found a steep hill, locked me in 2nd gear gave a real bootful (4500+ revs) and held it for at least 45 seconds, this made my turbo nice and hot, and I did my DPF burn really quick as we went on a highway speed trip and he used 5th gear to keep my turbo on the boil, DPF burn finished in under 50 klicks and economy returned to normal.
And yes we don't have "Tractor Engines" give us a bootful or we clag up real quick.
Dad takes me close to the fuel cut on nearly every gearchange upto the speed limit.
I'll do 90kph easily in 3rd gear going uphills even!
We regularly leave others in our wake coming off of the 40 limit at the Anderson interchange roadworks, near San Remo, Dad boots me hard in 3rd, and I hit the top of the hill doing around 95, then he just slips me into 6th.
Have a great Day everyone, I'm going to Sydney on the 25th to meet the Red Bull at last, like to meet some other Exys as well, Augustus the X Trail, who's on his way to Sydney to pick up a HEAP of GOODIES!!!!!!!!
