If I can find a higher spring-rate coil I think I'll be ok with that, and some fore-thought with taking corners of course!
The higher spring rate will decrease the amount of compression when going over obstacles out on the tracks, lifting that body corner with the resulting loss of traction on the same side other wheel and could ruin the 4wd-ability in rougher sections.

Sounds expensive Ian with all the other mods you really need to do to keep it drivable.

Re: T31 "body lift"
So roughly $2k for the kit plus either lots of time or an extra $1-2k for someone to install. The end result is better approach, ramp over and departure angles.
Clearance will only be effected by the tires. Which means you need to modify the wheel arches to fit what look to be roughly 30" tyres.
Ian don't you already have 29" muddies fitted anyway? Seems like a massive amount of time, money and effort to gain 1/2" in clearance. Not to mention the legalities (it would need to be engineer certified). Does look bloody good though. I mean really bloody good

If one enjoys the challenge of turning an X-Trail into a Monster Truck, then - more lead in your pencil.
There are a couple of Laws to bear in mind when enthusiastically and seriously modifying a vehicle.
The 'Law of Unanticipated Results' with those added height mods will probably make the car handle like a jackhammer in jelly by removing the designed relationship of the inter-related suspension parts.
Maybe a suspension/handling expert may be able to counter the changes to keep the car driveable on the highway and in suburbia.
However, if it is fun, legal and you want to do do it, then why not go for it?
You could end up with the most extensively modded X-Trail - which would be fun, as long as the modifications add to the car rather than detract.
Most importantly, it must be MORE functional after the Mod, otherwise you have wasted your time and money to no effect. - unless the object is to create a 'look'.
There is a classic "over-modified" Great Wall on Whirlpool Automotive forum which is generally held as an object of ridicule.
Not that you would have such bad taste in your mods.
Have fun - but the Law of Diminishing Returns dictates that there is a practical limit to ones imagination.

Re:
It has taken me awhile to understand this conversation as it has only now become apparent to me that a rather large post I had typed up, did not actually send.. *ARGHH!!* So, to attempt to answer all..
Firstly, that kit is not available to us here in Aus; I have spoken directly to the roadhouse owner and as it is a pioneer product, he will only accept it being on the market if he can personally guarantee that it was installed correctly(at his workshop, in Japan). So that's out the window.
Second, I have found another kit; that is basically an engine-drop. It utilises block spacers for almost all the effected components, almost like a reverse body lift, the main goal - lowering the position of the cv's, giving you the option to install 70mm coils and shocks and retain those functional angles. I still need to get in contact with the manufacturer regarding shipping though. Apologies for the delayed replies, all, up until this week I've been working 3jobs and haven't exactly had much spare time. My poor exy is very dirty and well overdue for a service too

Re:
Don't laugh Todd, but I've actually already investigated that option :/ Ha... As far as I can recall, the drop kit was 30mm?

Re:
If you read the entire thread you'll see I've already answered that question, Kris. There really isn't a whole lot of expense involved in what I'm aiming for, the main issue is deciding how I go about doing it and if saving on all the effort is worth the cost of whatever kit I happen to find along the way
