Replacing the Head Unit in my 2010 T31

Hi all,

I have searched through these posts, but nothing 100% gave me the answer I need.

I am looking to replace the head unit in my 2010 T31 (not sure what series?) with a stock Nissan head unit from a 2011 model (PP-3091T). Primarily for the Aux input.

I have found a few for sale and was wondering if the 2011 head unit will fit straight into a 2010? My guess is, yes it will but I have been unable to find any info about it or pictures of the back of each head unit.

I was also wondering if a head unit from a 2012 D22 Navara would fit my 2010 Xtrail?

Thanks for your time
Scott

Re:

Your TS will be a Series 3 or 4 and yes you will be able to fit the 6CD stacker from a 2011 model without any problems or some minor mods to the wiring. Most of the Nissan head units are interchangeable.

But before you do that, I would suggest you look at upgrading your head unit to a one which offers much more features (incouding a GPS), as the Nisssan head units don't last long and the ones with a 6CD stackers tend to go faulty after a while.

Re: Replacing the Head Unit in my 2010 T31

Thanks for the reply Jalalski,

I have thought about installing another 2din head unit, but I really only want the ability to use my iPhone/Mp3 players in the car. FM transmitters have failed me in the past.

All of the DVD/GPS/Touch screen head units I have looked at are either too expensive or look very cheesy and cheap. Bummer that the stock Nissan unit end up faulty because they look fine and as I said, the only reason for the upgrade is so I can use my iPhone/Mp3 players.

I have found a couple of 2011 head units for around $150, but I'll search again for a decent looking cheap DVD/GPS unit....if they exist.

Thanks again,
Scott

Re:

They do exist and you'll be able to score a good head unit which has all the functions you want and more for around $200 bucks. Check THIS thread for details.

Click on my members ride link at the bottom and have a look at page 12.

Re: Re:

Hi there,
I recently installed an Alpine CDE-W235EBT in my T30. The old stacker stopped working and all the double DIN units I saw, (Sony, JVC, Pioneer, Kenwood), were over-complicated with small indistinct buttons and their main selling point was that the lcd's could change colours.
I think it's very important that I can see which button I want to press without taking my eyes off the road for too long. Anyway, the Alpine has a single Cd, Mp3, USB, and Bluetooth built in.
It slipped straight in, using the brackets off the old stacker and a harness which made the wiring side of it completely painless. Total cost $265.
I've stuck about 400 songs on a small flash drive, which plugs into a concealed socket on the front of the unit, and away I go.

There was a fascia surround, but wouldn't fit, hence the slight gap around the front of the unit.

Regards
Glen

Re: Replacing the Head Unit in my 2010 T31

Hi all, especially ScottB Exy. I'm also very new to this forum.
I have a series 4 2011 xtrail (TS). As far as I can tell I have the Clarion headunit known as the PP-3091 - Although the "model name" on the front of the cd player is CY076G.
Like "ScottB Exy" I'm trying to upgrade to the default CD player found in the current model Xtrail (Series 5) which now incorporates Bluetooth audio streaming (my CD player does have bluetooth phone functionality - for making calls but not for audio playback).
Anyways, I was wondering if
1. Anyone had a picture of the back of my CD player CY076G that shows what inputs it requires (without me pulling my dash apart.
2. Does anyone know what the replacement model number (and make is)? And most importantly
3. Can I just take the series 5 default xtrail CD player and slot it into the same spot, without additional wiring and such? - will the same plugs just "plug straight back in" - is it possible that the back photos of these 2 units will show the exact same inputs, the same powersupply - and the steering wheel button control inputs will be the same?

Hi jalalsk i am still trying to upgrade my 2010 TS head unit with a 2012 head unit (Bosch unit) which has built in navigation into it.

The thing i need help with is getting my steering wheel to talk to the head unit.

Have been thinking about buying the Clock spring and steering wheel controls from the wrecked car where the head unit came out of as at a loss now why its not working

Re: Replacing the Head Unit in my 2010 T31

Steven,
If there was anything wrong with your spiral cable then I would be expecting you to also have your airbag warning light flashing on your dash because those wires also go through it.
Get yourself a copy of the Electronic Service Manual for the T31 and check the wiring diagrams to see if there are any differences in the wiring plugs for the 2010 and 2012 units.
