Blackall and surrounds

Took a drive out to Blackall, Central Queensland at the beginning of the month (two family birthday parties). Haven't been out that way since our outback trip a couple years ago. The only changes of note, were the roads were in better nick (due to money from the mines) and there was still some water in the creeks.

Hope you enjoy the following pics ....

Dead straight roads heading west from Dalby, make it very easy to (slightly emoticon ) exceed the posted speed limit ..... pic was actually taken to show the outside temp of 40 degrees (temp dropped to 39)

Forced off road to allow a wide load to pass

Traffic lights in the middle of nowhere

Controlled burn-offs (and fire funnel ... second pic) between Morven & Augathella

Took a drive to my nephew's workplace (a small property ... 65,000 acres), north west of Blackall. Whenever it rains, the creeks cut off their drive in and therefore, their access to town. No usually a problem out there .... heaps of work to be done anyway, looking after the cattle

Still on their driveway ...

Whilst in Blackall, we briefly visited the Wool Scour

We stayed in town for the weekend, but visited Rose's sister at their property (another small one ... only 60,000 acres) south east of Blackall, and drove around the paddocks checking the place out

Great pics, the farms in Queensland outback sure cover plenty of area, pretty remote and lonely.

Re:

Thanks for the report Stephen. Love those long straight roads with 110 as a speed limit, don't last long enough though.
