T31 Air intake upgrades & modifications
So through some heavy thread-scouring and asking those nagging questions in some ancient threads, I have been informed that as of yet, there have been no recorded quests into upgrading the air intake for the T31. I've done my research and it seems that my exy's path will more than likely be leaning towards that of a snorkel, but in saying that.. I'm also tempted to venture down the (cheaper) CAI path beforehand, because hey, who can say no to a little extra grunt in the meantime Considering how impressive the previous air intake thread and some of the creative customisation that lay within it for the T30, I'm really hoping/looking forward to seeing what will be popping up in this thread.

Re: T31 Air intake upgrades & modifications
Hi Ian and all,
Just like with the T30 Exy, your research for performance modification for the Petrol 2.5LT T31 exy should start by looking at our cousin Nissan Sentra Spec-V 2007-2012 models in the US, as they share exactly the same QR engine and the engine bay layoout is pretty much idendtical.
Just by Googling 2007-2012 Sentra Spec-V CAI, I was able to find the Injen CAI system which would most probably fit the T31 petrol exy perfectly.
HERE is a website the shows the full CAI.
I'm sure there are other CAI models out there, but I won't be exploring them as the Red Bull is the wife's ride and she doesn't want any performance modifications done to it
Have fun!

Re:
Yes, numerous times and there is an existing thread covering the T31 snorkel which you can find by using the Site Search and seeing what other members have done.

Re:
So basically, this idea has stalled at the moment due to lack of spare time, but the last hurdle I hit was that unlike the t30, the throttle body on the T31 is physically attached(a singular piece) to the air filter box.. so current ideas are to cut it off and attach tubing with clamps, etc as a starting point, but that's a little involved for me right now and would also void that precious warranty. Still looking into it though!

Re: T31 Air intake upgrades & modifications
Not an issue if you install a snorkel and leave the filter box in place

Re:
I do intend on installing a snorkel further down the track, but probably with inbuilt filter so I can avoid the box and retain the ram effect and airflow within the tube. Being paranoid Iwill probably include an air bypass valve in it somewhere before it joins the throttle body. Money will decide which I do first.

Re: T31 Air intake upgrades & modifications
Getting a little off topic but 99% of snorkels use the factory filter box. Some have pre-cleaners/filters in the snorkel head but that is in addition to the main air filter. Not instead of.
