New diesel?

I have a t31 it made a really bad noise and compression test only showed 100psi and should have been about 400. Metal fragments in the oil. Nissan HO said to check the big end bearing.

Re:

How did you go with your exy Marc?

Did they find out what went wrong at all!

Maybe you should post something under the diesel section and call it "possible Big end Damage"

Regards Scot.

Re:

So after 4 weeks and 5 days I am told that my car has contamination damage, metal fragments found in the injectors, injector pump and fuel filter, the filter was also changed at the last major service. They advise me it's not covered under warranty and that I could be looking at a bill of around 12-15k after they continue to pull the engine down and inspect the big end bearing.

Anyone have any suggestions where I go from here?

Re:

How did tghey determine that metal fragments in the injectors are not covered by warranty? Are they saying you just decided to contaminate the engine oil yourself or are they saying you have used an incorrect grade engine oil?

Re:

No they are saying the fuel was contaminated by fragments, they sent it off to engineers authorised to determine if it is covered under warranty.

However when they drained the oil it was found to have metal fragments in it as well.

Re:

Their fuel filter obviously didn't do the job then.
The filter should become so clogged that it would starve the engine of fuel.
Shame that you are out of warranty, it's an expensive fix.
