Re: T31 Series 5 Nissan Connect System (including Navigation)
Hi People, about 12 months ago I did a survey of what After Market Units could replace the Original BOSCH Head Unit. There are many omn the Market at varying prices. There are some that state that they are for XTrail and Pathfinder - these come with an additional harness, to connect into Nissan Wiring Loom. I investigated this, and their Statement was not quit true - additional work and wiring would be needed to make it work the same as the Bosch Unit. I considered this to be a Messy Job, so I decided against it. I am NOT saying, a Professional Electrician would not be able to do it and get it working correctly, but, at additional cost. I would happily Install One that could be fitted straight from the Box. I have now given up on the idea. I believe that Nissan and its Dealers could be breaking Consumer Law here in Australia, for Two things a) Product that is unsuitable for use, and, b) Price Gouging. Cheers, Owen Carlton.

Re: T31 Series 5 Nissan Connect System (including Navigation)
Hi Owen,
As there are so many variants and models of X-Trail, you need to make sure the unit you are interested in suit your particular model as all the variants are usually the same except for options like navigation or hands-free or steering wheel controls. These options usually are what present the most difficulty in obtaining the correct replacement unit or extra wiring harness adapters to make them fit and connect correctly.

Re: T31 Series 5 Nissan Connect System (including Navigation)
In my view there are really two ways to go here:
1. OEM Nissan to ISO standard harness plugs
2. OEM Nissan headunit swap/replacement
Option one opens up a lot of great modern headunits and a wide range of prices. I found everything EXCEPT the camera was plugin and play (I've now confirmed steering wheel controls are plug-in and play too). My headunit came with a microphone for hands free which was easy to connect. The Navigation doesn't matter as you will be using the navigation system that comes with the new headunit, which for many will be a significant upgrade over the Connect System. See https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/t135083 for all part numbers for 2007+ T31 at https://aerpro.com/vehicles/nissan/nissan-x-trail-2007-2013-t31.
Option two will ensure plug in and play including camera etc but as Kev notes, you'd want to ensure you obtain the correct replacement unit. I remember someone of a forum saying a lot of x-trails came into Australia without OEM cameras and for some models the dealers installed reversing camera system Nissian Australia made 'standard'.
So I went option one and elected to have a professional install and connect just a new camera which was a cheap and quick job itself. The quality of the camera is high resolution and I couldn't be happier.

Re: T31 Series 5 Nissan Connect System (including Navigation)
if the card came from the dealer then take it back to them, with the Xtrail and have them do the update.
