** NSW & QLD X-TRAIL Challenge Round 2**TRIP REPORT**

Just like last year, this year's event turned-out to be another great outing and everyone had fun.

I arrived on Friday just after 3pm and some of the guys were already there (Jamie, John, Tracey,Mark and Geoff) and Kev was arriving about and hour or so after me.

Unpacked the exy and headed to our meeting point at the BBQ area where we gathered together as a group and discussed our plans for next day. Then we met at the reception and took the shuttle bus to the RSL where we had dinner.

The next day, it was a bright and early start for all and we set-off to the local bakery for coffee at around 7:30am. After that we headed to the off-road track with Scot leading the way after receving a VERY detailed artenary from Wendy (thanks heaps Wendy) and Anna-Maree (Kev's wife) was helping Scot as the navigator. Jamie took the spot of tail-end Charlie.

The roads this year were super dusty as you would see in the videos and our favorite mud puddle was nowhere to be seen this year emoticon

I was the 2nd car and in some section it was almost impossible to see ahead from the amount of dust that was there, so I had to stop completely to be able to tell if Scot was still ahead.

Kev and Jamie had a bit of fun in an off-shoot track they have discovered and we then set-off to our next spot being the "look-out" and from there to our lunch spot.

In the afternoon, Scot wanted to explore another track that he had previously seen, but the very first section of the track proved to be challenging for standard xtrails, so we decided as a group not to go ahead as it was getting a bit late and this track will be reserved for "next year"

We made our way back on the road and stopped at the local "Driver Reviver" where we had a quick coffee and then set-off to Sandy Beach....

Once at the beach, we explored the area with our xtrails and had plenty of fun with some splashing (always mindful of pedestrians on the beach of course) and we also lined-up the xtrails for the photo shoot with Kev in the middle being the only T30 exy in the group.

It was getting a bit late and the forum BBQ dinner time was approaching, so we made our way back to the carvan park and gathered around the BBQ area at 6:30pm where dinner was served for the group (another excellent BBQ from Jo and her staff at the Lorikeet).

Jamie and Vicky got our brains working with the super difficult trivia questions and we were happy not to come last LOL emoticon

A huge thanks to all members and their families who attended this trip and I hope you enjoyed as much as we did.

Here is a teaser shot emoticon

Hey Scot,

I was going through the video footage and noticed something you saw on the track. I can't believe how clear it has been captured by the in-car camera.

Lucky it didn't follow me when I was taking pics LOL emoticon

Re:

Great shots Jalal, felt like I was there.
They all looked so brilliantly shiny at the start, good to see them all dusty.
Also nice to see a pic of everyone with their vehicle.

Re: ** NSW & QLD X-TRAIL Challenge Round 2**TRIP REPORT** Sherwood Forest

Hi to All,
We arrived about 11:00 and began setting up the camper with the temperatures heading to the mid thirties. Mark and his daughter dropped by for a quick hello. All set up, time for a cool drink.

Image..........Image

Scot, Jamie and Jalal arrived during the afternoon. At 3:00 Pm each day it is feeding time for the Lorikeets, hence where the park gets it's name. Bob has them eating out of his hand.

Image.......Image.........Image

We got the courtesy bus from the park to the RSL for dinner and drinks, back to the park and straight to bed. Big day ahead. We got together in the BBQ area before heading to Woolgoolga where we would meet up with Mark and Jeff.

......Image

From here it was onto Sherwood Reserve. It has obviously been sometime since the area has seen rain as the dust was the thickest we've seen. Made a couple of stops but here we are at the Widowmaker. Jamie shows us how it is done.

Image.......Image

Further up the road was a hill just begging for the guys to have a go at it. Kev and Scot with lift got over, Jamie without lift, almost.

........Image

On the way out to the point for lunch, one part had some great ruts. At one point the Xtrail was balancing on it's two diagonal wheels, good stuff. Mark was right behind.

.....Image..........Image.....Image

After lunch, we kept heading along the track until we reached a rock ledge that would bring us to a halt. The invincible T30 of Kev with lift scraped it's tailpipe sendind a message to the rest of us that we would probably leave the entire exhaust system behind if we tried it. Kev and Scot went on ahead to see if it was passable, but time was now against us. At this point we turned around and headed back through the dust to Woolgoolga.

Image

Part 2, the Beach drive to follow shortly.

John

Re: ** NSW & QLD X-TRAIL Challenge Round 2**TRIP REPORT** The Beach Run

We stopped at the Driver Reviver at Woololga for a quick cup of coffee, thanks to the Lions Club. From here we made our way out towards the beach via Hearnis Lake Rd. The lagoon was easily crossed and we grouped up on the other side.

.........Image

From here, we did the trip as far north as the rocks would allow us before turning and heading back down the beach. We passed by the lagoon and made the run down towards the Southern end of Sandy Beach. Can't go any further but it makes a good place for a photo or two.

Image.......Image.......Image

Once again we turned North where we met up with Scot and made our formation for the photo shoot. Jamie and Kev decided the sand needed to have some design swirls to it for the pictures. Here we are for the main shoot.

Image......Image.......Image

From here it was back to the park where some washed the dust and sand from the Xtrails while others washed the dust from thier throats with a cold drink. The park once again put on an excellent BBQ and Jamie's trivia questions had us all guessing. Sadly Sunday morning came too early and we seen most of our group leave.

Many thanks to Scot for leading the way all day.
Thanks also to Michael, Jo and the Lorikeet Park team for the BBQ and thier hospitality.
Thanks also to Nissan Australia for the cool Xtrail blankets.

Thanks also to all those who made it the great event that it was!!! emoticon
