Hard to believe there was no snow at Cradle Mountain, did my snow survival course there many years ago. Dig a hole in the snow and live in it for a week. The last night at the resort thawing out was the best part.

Good report John was very interested as we go down for 5 weeks next March 2013 we are very much looking forward to the trip and hope we get some snow as well ive heard it can snow at xmas so fingers crossed for March .

Hi John

Great to know you enjoyed Tassie and loving the x-trail

I have lived most of my life in Tasmania (3 1/2 years on the Gold Coast, Queensland) spending time in most major centres including Burnie, Devonport, Launceston and Hobart. I love Ben Lomond...just the drive to the top is fun (and scary on some days too).

I'm not really interested in overseas travel but can't wait till we can do some more travelling on the big island and explore Sth Australia and more of Queensland.

Hi All,
Since returning from our trip South, I have been checking the snow reports and snow cams each day. I said in the earlier part of this thread that the snow might improve into August. It's now turning out to be a snow-fest with some really great falls. I thought mid July would have been ok as I had a small window in which to take leave. Even so, we had a great time and wouldn't change anything. There's also a lot more snow at Selwyn Jalal, see yourself doing another trip?
