Pt Macquarie NISSAN and xtrail fire.

Am watching CH 9 Current Affairs and just saw a news item showing the results of an xtrail fire write off within 10 minutes of the purchaser leaving the dealership with 2nd hand xtrail purchase. Dealership claims an electrical modification by previous owner caused the fire.

Dealership wanted purchaser to claim through his own insurance?????

What bloody rot.........Pt Macquarie Dealershipo...... TAKE ownership of the issue and resolve it without financial loss to purchaser.

Did anyone else see the news item??? and what do you think??

It was Nissan Australia head-office that made that statement, which is an obvious automatic response you'd expect from Nissan to any problem with the car.

Sounds like a fuel tank problem to me after watching the story online and I agree that the dealer should own the claim and run with it rather than expecting the customer to do so.

Re:

wow just watched it on the aca website ,i would have thought it would be a warranty thing so should come under the dealers insurance, but to me it could be an electrical fault as diesel is very hard to set alight
