Mt Walker reccy trip

We headed out to MT Walker today, attending were,

Myself in a D22 Navara
Todd, T31 X Trail
Ben & Kat, GU Patrol (winch guy but didn't need it)
Mick, New Colorado.

We found track conditions as dry which I thought was a lot easier than when I did it a few weeks ago when it was wet.

We also did a few of the "harder" side tracks and was impressed that Todd's Xy got through them with little difficulty.

We came to the conclusion that an X Trail can make it if,
It has a lift kit,
Has A/T tyres,
Has full bash plate set,
Most of all off road experience.

This is no place for standard X Trail on factory tyres, and definitely not for beginners.

Todd also mentioned that a CVT or auto transmission is more suited for the constant climbing and descents that require constant RPM.

All in all it was a great day with no damage, good weather and great company.

A few pics from the day, they really don't do it justice.

Mick stuck on a harder side track, a couple of goes at it later and he got up. We all had a go at this and got up but Todd never attempted it.

Kat messaged me a few pics too. Only mobile phone quality but gives some idea. Obviously doesn't look anywhere near as difficult as it actually was.

Tony on one of the harder sections ( I didn't do this one)

Mick up a difficult side track ( took both of us 2 goes at it)

Me up the same side track

Coxs River crossing. Very rocky.

Very difficult track. Suitable for modified Xtrails and experienced drivers only.

Found this video which I think shows pretty accurately the standard of the tracks we tackled:

Re:

That's a good video of what to expect at Mt Walker, Most of the trials are exactly like that, there are some flatter sections but not many.

Todd, we have to do this power line track next time we go.
