Re:
Yes this is still a reccy trip and only Todd and my self going from the forum. Todd has a mate with a Patrol with a winch that is coming just in case, and I have a mate who wants to try out his new Colorado.
Todd and I are talking via PM and have organised all details.
When we get back from this reccy trip I will advise if the trip is suitable for X Trails and what modifications need to have been done to them.
Only then and there will this trip be formal and be listed as a new event.
edit, spelling

Re: Expressions of Interest. Mt Walker, Lithgow.
As Tony said he and I are organising the reccy trip via PM. Any discussion about a 'trip' on this thread is just people getting excited about the eventual forum trip. With good cause I reckon

Arthur from what I know it will be much more challenging then caves trip. I've got another trip up my sleeve too that makes caves to caves seem super easy

Re:
Going on the interest in this thread and the PM's that I have received just to go on the reccy trip that it is going to be a big one.
I hope if for some reason if it's not X trail friendly that people don't get too upset.
If the trip goes ahead it would have to be on a Saturday as I think Sunday would be the day most guys go there. The last time I went on Saturday, we never saw a single 4WD on the track.

Re:
Tomorrow (Sunday) is the reccy trip that Todd and I will be going on.
The track could be a little damp but am sure will be OK.
Stay tuned.

Re: Expressions of Interest. Mt Walker, Lithgow.
Just got back from the reccy trip. This is a very difficult track. It's hard section followed by hard section. No easy fire trails here. Very challenging and great fun. Happy to report I made it successfully. Safe to say this is not standard Xtrail territory. Anything with less mods than me would come out of here with damage or possibly not come out at all. I think Tony took some photos so hopefully he can shed some more light on the track conditions.

Re:
As Todd said, it is a difficult track and yes I did take a few pics but looking at them doesn't justify how it was.
We found track conditions as dry which I thought was a lot easier than when I did it a few weeks ago when it was wet.
We also did a few of the "harder" side tracks and was impressed that Todd's Xy got through them with little difficulty.
We came to the conclusion that an X Trail can make it if,
It has a lift kit,
Has A/T tyres,
Has full bash plate set,
Most of all off road experience.
This is no place for standard X Trail on factory tyres, and definitely not for beginners.
Todd also mentioned that a CVT or auto transmission is more suited for the constant climbing and descents that require constant RPM.
All in all it was a great day with no damage, good weather and great company.
Mick stuck on a harder side track, a couple of goes at it later and he got up. We all had a go at this and got up but Todd never attempted it.
