Re:
After a great day off road, Scot, Wendy, Vicky and myself made our way to our accommodation, a B&B circa 1857 called Kerong Cottage. We were greeted by Helen, our host who showed us around. We chose our rooms and unpacked. A really lovely place, each of our bedrooms had an open fireplace in it which Helen had lit already.
We had a nice cup of coffee and a hot shower and then got ready to meet up with everyone else (they were staying elsewhere).
We met up with everyone at the local RSL club, we had booked a table under the name of Xtrail. I wonder what they thought of that when they set up the table.
Dinner was great, buffet was sumptuous and the orange poppyseed was divine. we said good night to everyone and headed back to our room and that great fireplace.
When we arrived back, Helen invited us to watch a DVD she had started of Leonard Cohen and then offered us a nightcap, a delicious totty of drambuie - sensational.
The next morning we woke up to breakfast laid out and we scoffed down some cereal, toast and a nice cuppa sitting at the bench on painted stools.
And so it was farewell to Kerong Cottage and Helen as we made our way to the meeting point to start our second day of adventure.
Overnight, the mud had dried up and flaked off the car so we left a fine mess when we took off.
Stay tuned for more as we head off up the 14 rivers crossing leg of the journey.

Re: The Springs 4 x 4 park 16th and Condamine 14 river crossings 17th of June 2012
So, day 2 saw us up early and a farewell to Helen and Kerong Cottage as we set off to meet the rest of the crew.
A quick fuel fill up, both cars and us and off we head. A pretty uneventful trip, lots of river crossings, lots of scenery, lots of mountains and lots of cows. Mark and Chris headed off to Killarny and Queen Mary Falls whilst the rest of us carried on back to Brisbane.
Sadly as we were nearing the end of the road and our trip, we came across a motorcycle rider that had just come off his bike and in a pretty bad way. We assisted where we could, Dave was amazing, knew just what to do. Scot and myself were stopping and directing traffic. Dave and Tracey went off to meet up with the ambulance and lo and behold, came back with a Dr. He just happened to be riding by with a group of cyclists.
Anyway the upshot of it all, the rest of the motorcycle rider's group returned and they had a Dr in their group as well. He was on the phone and organised for Careflight to come out and they airlifted him to the PA hospital in Brisbane.
We all went our seperate ways from there and I went and washed REX. Even after a thorough wash, you could still see the marks left by the mud. Time for a cut & polish I think.
Great weekend, thanks everyone and enjoy the last vid.
