We had a couple of drama's when we got home and sadly our fury baby Buster who we had for 12 1/2 years passed on the Monday morning we got back. So it has been a little hectic in our house, now I have a little more time I'll attempt to work out photo bucket and post some pics. So our next post will be with some pic's i promise. Had a great weekend. Big thanks to Scott and Jamie for taking the lead at various times, and of course to their navigators. After leaving the group, we headed to Queen Mary Falls. Had lunch and a walk to the bottom of the falls. Left there about 2pm and headed home via Legume, Woodenbong, up to Rathdowney and down Lions Road. Got home about 5:30pm. My passenger (Dad) even washed the car on Monday while I was working All I had to do was clean the mud off the driveway. Here is a link to a Google Map for the entire weekend. Scroll to the bottom of the left section and choose next to see more of the GPS tracking. The Springs is on page 2. http://goo.gl/maps/HTL9 Will post again when the video's have finished uploading. A quick fuel fill up, both cars and us and off we head. A pretty uneventful trip, lots of river crossings, lots of scenery, lots of mountains and lots of cows. Mark and Chris headed off to Killarny and Queen Mary Falls whilst the rest of us carried on back to Brisbane. Sadly as we were nearing the end of the road and our trip, we came across a motorcycle rider that had just come off his bike and in a pretty bad way. We assisted where we could, Dave was amazing, knew just what to do. Scot and myself were stopping and directing traffic. Dave and Tracey went off to meet up with the ambulance and lo and behold, came back with a Dr. He just happened to be riding by with a group of cyclists. Anyway the upshot of it all, the rest of the motorcycle rider's group returned and they had a Dr in their group as well. He was on the phone and organised for Careflight to come out and they airlifted him to the PA hospital in Brisbane. We all went our seperate ways from there and I went and washed REX. Even after a thorough wash, you could still see the marks left by the mud. Time for a cut & polish I think. Great weekend, thanks everyone and enjoy the last vid. Day 2 Video If anyone wants to look at the pictures not in video format, Here is the link. nondisclosed_email@example.com (BlackThunda)Wed, 20 Jun 2012 21:36:59 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2063506,from=rss#post2063506https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2063506,from=rss#post2063506After a great day off road, Scot, Wendy, Vicky and myself made our way to our accommodation, a B&B circa 1857 called Kerong Cottage. We were greeted by Helen, our host who showed us around. We chose our rooms and unpacked. A really lovely place, each of our bedrooms had an open fireplace in it which Helen had lit already. We had a nice cup of coffee and a hot shower and then got ready to meet up with everyone else (they were staying elsewhere). We met up with everyone at the local RSL club, we had booked a table under the name of Xtrail. I wonder what they thought of that when they set up the table. Dinner was great, buffet was sumptuous and the orange poppyseed was divine. we said good night to everyone and headed back to our room and that great fireplace. When we arrived back, Helen invited us to watch a DVD she had started of Leonard Cohen and then offered us a nightcap, a delicious totty of drambuie - sensational. The next morning we woke up to breakfast laid out and we scoffed down some cereal, toast and a nice cuppa sitting at the bench on painted stools. And so it was farewell to Kerong Cottage and Helen as we made our way to the meeting point to start our second day of adventure. Overnight, the mud had dried up and flaked off the car so we left a fine mess when we took off. Stay tuned for more as we head off up the 14 rivers crossing leg of the journey.nondisclosed_email@example.com (BlackThunda)Tue, 19 Jun 2012 21:23:13 +0000 Re: The Springs 4 x 4 park 16th and Condamine 14 river crossings 17th of June 2012https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2063491,from=rss#post2063491https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2063491,from=rss#post2063491Great weekend Scot and Wendy, thanks again. We got to the meet up point and decided like everyone else on the meet up to grab some brekky at Macca's. That turned out to be quite a lengthy effort in it's self as they did not have the staff to cover the orders for people and kept giving out wrong orders. We left Beaudesert a little later than planned and once on the highway we got up to the speed limit. We then struck some vintage cars doing 50 - 60km and hour in a 100 km zone and they refused to move out of the way and we had to get around some when we could. We got to Warwick at around 10:45am and we found Mark from Lismore at the meet up point. Once fueled and ready to go we headed out for the 4 x 4 park. When we got there we signed in and they said there was a play ground we could use to have a play in before we did some tracks. We had a play around thru some wombat holes and hills and dips and then I let Jamie take the lead for the trip around the park and Vicki was a fantastic navigator to get where we did go. I will let others fill you in on day one first and then I will post some pics later and do a write up on day 2. Regards Scot nondisclosed_email@example.com (freewill11)Sun, 17 Jun 2012 22:10:43 +0000
