2012 T31 X-Trail Models Feature Variations (Series 5)

Hi Guys,

There are some feature changes taking place on the T31 X-Trail models which Nissan Australia will be announcing shortly.

The physical appearance is still the same. Some of the changes are:

All models will have a USB port but a single CD player that will replace the 6 CD Stacker
The Ti and TL models both have a new GPS system that is built into the car unlike the previous one
o It is a 5 inch screen instead of the 7 inch currently used
o No DVD player
o A new Camera system is being used as well with 4 cameras around the car so you get a
sky view of the car while reversing instead of just a rear camera.
There are no changes to the prices of the cars.

I can only assume that they will be importing the European spec Ti and TL GPS set-up which has in-built system into the dash.

Re: 2012 T31 X-Trail (Series 5) Models Feature Variations

Hi Guys,

Since Nissan Australia is not making any formal announcements about the new T31 series, I might as well announce it myself LOL emoticon

T31 X-TRAIL Series 5 is now available at the dealerships and they have started selling it as of 1st of May.

The model variations are listed above and the price remains the same.

Here are pics hot off the press of the new satellite navigation and the 4-way camera view system that is being offered in the TL and Ti top of the range models.

Hi Jalal,

Thanks for posting the pics of the new stereo/ sat nav unit. My dealer showed me these last weekend. What I haven't been able to find out is what mapping software the new unit uses?

Also, can you clarify your earlier comment 'The Ti and TL models both have a new GPS system that is built into the car unlike the previous one'. Are you talking about the GPS receiver, display or something else?

Cheers,

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

I mean the Navigation System that is now being offerred in the Ti and TL is factory fitted in Japan unlike the previous Series 3 and 4 Eclipse system which was fitted after the car arrived to Australia.

Not sure what is the mapping software it uses but we will soon find out I guess emoticon

ok, thanks for the clarification. I was unaware that the Eclipse unit was fitted after the car arrived in Australia. Is there a reason for that?

Yeah mate, cost saving exercise by Nissan as they got a bulk deal with Fujitsu Ten (who owns Eclipse).

I had a try of the 4 way camera system in a Dualis. It is rubbish to use and I think quite distracting. I still think parking sensors ith an audible waring are still the best. I will be getting some installed when I get my X-Trail,

Funny you mention that, my wife is still asking me to fit the audible reverse sensors in our Ti and she hates looking at the screen when reversing and to be honest, I never do either, only to check and make sure that no kids or other objects are behind the car.

This I believe is the only purpose for the camera as you can not tell distances and can most certainly not see things at the back corner.

I never use it to reverse, only to check nothing is behind before moving and sometimes when I am reversing back into a car park I use it to make sure I don't go back into the parking space (or car) behind.

With the new one I would use it the same, occasional glances, fine tune the parking - there is no substitution for looking over the shoulder.
