Newnes/Ben Bullen 10-11 March

I know it's late notice again (I'm gonna get a reputation here) but I'm thinking about a trip out to Newnes State Forest via Zig Zag with a possible drive through to Ben Bullen/Baal Bone this coming Saturday/Sunday. I will probably camp in Newnes State Forest for the night. The main camp area gets busy but there are heaps of forest options (obviously without facilities so it would be BYO everything).
I did Blackfellows Hand Trail a couple of weeks back and its in OK condition except for the area between Blackfellows Hand Rock and Wolgan Road which is pretty badly washed out (but still passable). I was really rushed last time and would like more time to explore this time.

The weather has obviously been horrible recently but I'm pretty confident that Blackfellows at least will still be passable (Baal Bone may be a different story but at worst we can just turn back). The forecast for the weekend is possible showers. I'm hoping it will be similar to last sundays 'possible showers' (it was a gorgeous day).
anyway I'm trying to talk a couple of mates into it and hopefully some people from here can make the trip too. Even if its just for the day.

Some of what you can expect to see

Re:

Take your recovery gear as it's going to be a bit wetter than just a couple of showers.
Be prepared for plenty of mud and bog holes too.

Thanks Tony, I will have the maxtrax, the hand winch and all the gear and Saturday at least we should have a jacked up Patrol (very handy recovery tool).
Why don't you come along Tony? I'm sure we would appreciate the guidance of a local.

This is the latest Lithgow forecast for the weekend from BOM
Friday 9 March
Min 10Max 20 Possible shower clearing.

Saturday 10 March
Min 9Max 21 Partly cloudy.

Sunday 11 March
Min 10Max 21 Partly cloudy.

Re:

Thanks for the offer Todd, but can't make it this weekend.
Try Weatherzone instead of BOM, it's better, more accurate and easier to understand.

Re:

to anyone wanting a late tag-along here we will be meeting at the zig zag car park at approximately 8:30am. At this stage it will be a black xtrail and a maroon patrol.
I'll be camping out the patrol will head home. So difficult stuff will be saturday and maybe some easier tracks on sunday.
